Bame nearly perfect in Carey rout

CAREY – Carter Bame was just out away from tossing a perfect game Friday night in a 16-0 drubbing of Colonel Crawford in N10 play. But what could've been the last out turned into a double by Eagles' Joe Zizzo. It didn't matter in the grand scheme of things, but Bame had to settle with the one-hit shutout on the mound. He fanned five and didn't allow a walk. Carey (10-6, 6-4 N10) tallied 10 hits as Kasen Sherman (3 RBI) and Louis Watkins (2-2B, 2 RBI) each produced three hits for the Blue Devils. AJ Wynkoop, Garrett Hall, David Hall and Landon Tarris all scored two runs. Senecas get revengeCalvert knew coming in that it wanted revenge after losing to Lakota 6-5 on April 9th. It did just that Friday in run-rule fashion with a 10-0 SBC River victory at Peaceful Valley at Heidelberg University. The Senecas (13-3, 11-1 SBC River) took the lead in the second inning with six runs. Cameron Moyer doubled on a fly ball to the centerfield, which put Connor Moyer on third base. Connor Moyer scored on a Charlie Palm single. Cameron Moyer scored on an error, and Palm reached on that same error. Jacob Kidwell hit a double to left field, getting an RBI when Palm came into home plate. Kidwell and Logan Ritzler scored on an error when Blake Coleman hit a line drive out to centerfield. AJ Shoemaker hit a double to centerfield and that gave Blake Coleman just enough time to sprint into home plate, putting the Senecas up 6-0 over the Raiders (7-8, 5-6 SC River). Lakota couldn't come up with an answer back, left too many gaps for the Senecas to bat through, and left runners on.Calvert added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and closed out the game with another run in the fifth.Ritzler got the win on the hill, giving up just five hits in five innings as he struck out seven. Jack Widman took the loss, giving up six runs on six hits in 1 2/3 innings of work. Estridge tosses a no-no for BCNEW WASHINGTON – Buckeye Central had plenty of offense, but it was the pitching from Austin Estridge Friday that was the highlight. Estridge no-hit Plymouth in a 10-0 Bucks win.Estridge struck out five and walked two in his five innings on the bump.At the plate, BC (10-7) only had five hits as Lance Cole doubled, singled and drove in two runs, while Jeremiah Fishpaw singled twice and drove in a run, Blaise Metzger added a single and an RBI and Jeremiah Roberson and Tye Craft each drove in a run. Bellevue powers off lateSANDUSKY – Better late than never.Bellevue trailed Perkins 2-1 after five innings Friday in a SBC Lake matchup. But then the Redmen tallied four runs in the sixth and seventh innings to pull away from Perkins, 9-5.Grant Musser led the charge for Bellevue (8-5, 5-2 SBC Lake) with a pair of singles and RBIs. It also got a single and an RBI apiece from Kaden Cramer and Reid Claus and an RBI from Sam Cooper.Blake Sutherland got the win on the hill, allowing four runs on three hits in six innings. Cody Lindsey closed things out in the seventh. Blue Streaks batter FliersCLYDE – Clyde finally played a game that didn't go into extra innings Friday, but it ended up on the wrong side of the scoreboard in an 11-5 SBC Lake loss to Sandusky.Clyde trailed only 6-5 after five innings, but then the Blue Streaks pulled away.Clyde (6-11, 2-5 SBC Lake) had five hits and seven errors. Kam Shortridge lined three singles, while Brayden Olson doubled and drove in two runs and Mason Flewelling finished with a double and an RBI.Colt Flores suffered the loss on the mound, allowing four runs (one earned) on four hits in four innings. He struck out five and walked four. Gavyn Boggs pitched the rest of the way.
