Fliers blank Perkins for outright SBC crown

SANDUSKY — Clyde dominated Thursday, dropping just one set en route to beating Perkins 5-0 to claim the outright Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division title."I am very happy with the way the team went out and took care of business tonight. They have been a great team to work with because they seem to rise to whatever the occasion calls for," Clyde coach Jeff MacFarland said."We had some tests early in the second round of league play with injuries, but the team bonded together and found ways to win close matches and the end result was to win the SBC Lake Division outright," he said. "It was great to tie for the title last year with Columbian, but it was even better to win it outright this year."The victory pushed the Fliers to 17-2 overall and 9-1 in conference play.Aric Kauble gave Clyde a 6-0, 6-0 No. 1 singles win against Devin Peiffer, Alex Krintzline beat Aaron Benkirane 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2, and Connor Eastby defeated Preston Miller 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3.Chase Castle and Oscar Webb outlasted Blue Streaks Chase Young and Ben Smith 6-7 (5), 6-4, 10-8 at No. 1 doubles.Clyde's Hunter Begley and Mallory Eastby beat Jaden Lyons and Nathan Reynolds 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles. Hoover, Gibsonburg limit Old FortGIBSONBURG – After jumping out to a 4-0 lead in just two innings, it was certainly enough run support for Nolan Hoover on the hill as Gibsonburg got by Old Fort 4-1 in SBC River play Thursday.Hoover went all seven innings on the bump, giving up a run on just two hits with seven strikeouts and four walks on 91 pitches.Andrew Tackett doubled and Ryan Adelsperger lined a single for the Stockaders (6-10, 4-7 SBC River). Harry King took the loss for OF, allowing four runs (two earned) on two hits in two innings. Colten Hoerig pitched the final four innings not giving up a run with five punchouts. Eagles rally to tame TigersNORTH ROBINSON – Seneca East led 2-0 after an inning and then 3-2 after three innings Thursday at Colonel Crawford. But then the Eagles took the lead in the bottom of the fourth with three runs en route to a 7-5 N10 win.SE (10-9, 6-6 N10) out-hit CC 10-5 as Nicholas Parks smacked two doubles and a single and drove in a pair of runs, while Brady Bloom and Blake Bumb each singled twice and drove in a run and Braydon Robinson, Gunner Polachek and Colton Ehresman all singled.Parks took the loss, allowing five runs on just a single hit in 3 1/3 innings. He struck out six and walked nine. Robinson tossed the rest of the game. TC (8-12, 4-4 SBC Lake) did have one more hit than the Pirates as Emma Daugherty doubled, singled and drove in a pair of runs, while Cam Haman doubled and singled, Laela Haman singled and drove in a run and Breanna McNutt ended with a double.Cam Haman suffered the loss in the circle. She allowed 13 runs (five earned) on seven hits in five innings. She struck out five and walked five on 126 pitches. SE pours it on Eagles 15-6NORTH ROBINSON – Seneca East had the bats ready to roll Thursday night as it recorded 15 runs on 18 hits in a dominant 15-6 N10 victory at Colonel Crawford.Addy Dawson led the Tigers (7-9, 6-6 N10) with four hits, including a double, while Ella Martin (2-2B, 3 RBI), Macey Webb (3 RBI), Paige Miller (2B, RBI) and Hanna Featheringill (2B, 2 RBI) all added three hits and Luella Burkholder finished with a single and an RBI. Alaina Chapman lined a single.Kynlee Miller pitched a complete game in the circle for SE, giving up six runs (two earned) on three hits with five strikeouts and five walks on 129 pitches. Golden Bears rout StockadersGIBSONBURG – Despite being out-hit 9-7 by Old Fort, Gibsonburg run-ruled Old Fort 11-1 in SBC River action Thursday.The one run for the Stockaders (2-16) was a solo shot from Mylee Sebetto in the top of the second. She also added a single, while Lucy King added a pair of singles and Abbi Ward tripled.Sebetto suffered the loss in the circle, allowing 11 runs (six earned) on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings.
