Sandusky River Watershed Coalition shares upcoming events, celebrates member support The Sandusky River Watershed Coalition recently hosted its annual Member Appreciation Event at The Pioneer Mill in Tiffin. Held April 17, the gathering recognized sponsors and members who support the organization's mission to protect and improve the Sandusky River watershed. Rowan Coburn-Griffis with the Ohio Scenic Rivers Program spoke during the event, highlighting the state's Stream Quality Monitoring efforts and upcoming initiatives in the region. The SRWC is also preparing for a full slate of 2025 programming, beginning with the annual Fremont Clean Sweep in June. Upcoming SRWC events include: June 7: Fremont Clean Sweep July 12: Crawford County Clean Sweep (tentative) July 16–19: Water Camp for high school students August 3: Ghoul Runnings Clean Sweep August 14: Sandusky River Tour: Headwaters in Crawford County September 13: Tiffin Sandusky River Clean Sweep September 16: Water Career Fair at Heidelberg University September 27: Sandusky River Trail Run at Steyer Nature Preserve The coalition will also participate in Heidelberg University's Berg Summer Camps, offering hands-on learning through the Water Detectives: Rivers and Wetlands program. Students will collect samples from area rivers and wetlands to understand how water quality data informs policy decisions. Fun on the Farm returns The community is invited to Fun on the Farm, an event hosted by Seneca Conservation District at Proving Ground Farm, located at 5670 E. TR 138, Tiffin. The event is scheduled to take place from 9 a.m.-noon on Saturday, June 14 at the farm with many free adventures on the acres, including creek exploration, livestock, beekeeping, fishing, trails, archery, a hayride and furs, tracks and scat. Partners include Seneca Parks, Ottawa Sandusky Seneca Solid Waste District and Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry.
