BOYS TRACK: Jack Newlove won the 300 hurdles (38.35) and helped the 4x200 team take third (1:31.08) and the 4x100 team (44.47) and the 4x400 team (3:31.5) each run fourth Friday as Columbian ended second at the Findlay Cooper Tire Invitational. Fremont Ross beat the Tornadoes 95-70 for the title, with Old Fort ending 15th (8). Dashawn Russell joined Newlove on 4x200 and 4x400 for TC. Ryan Hook helped on the 4x200 and 4x100. Neven Neuman filled out the 4x200. Leo Diamontopulous and Xavier Matthewson helped with the 4x100. Xavier Melick and Hayden Miller rounded out the 4x400. Owen Hickey claimed second in the high jump (6-2) for TC, and Ethan Reynolds took second in the shot (51-11 1/2) and third in the discus (139-2). Matthewson added a third in the 110 hurdles (15.44), a fourth in the 300 hurdles (42.98) and a sixth in the high jump (5-8). Draven Steele finished fourth in the discus (128-0). Melick ended sixth in the 800 (2:02.26). Russell wound up eighth in the 400 (52.23). Old Fort's Aidan Chapman ran fourth in the 400 (51.34). The Stockaders ended seventh in the 4x400 (3:43.9) and eighth in the 4x200 (1:36.99). Brayden Davis, Aiden Dick and Issac Gallagher ran on both relays for Old Fort, with Jake Beisner anchoring the 4x400 and Zach Peck anchoring the 4x200. GIRLS TRACK: Alexa Gibson won the discus (125-11) and took sixth in the shot (31-4) Friday to guide Columbian to fourth in the 14-team Findlay Cooper Tire Invitational. Old Fort finished 11th with 16 points. Abbie Felske backed Gibson with a second in the 1,600 (5:22.23) and a sixth in the 800 (2:32.89) for TC. Grace Blonde ran second in the 3,200 (12:02.9), with Carmen Lewis taking third in the 3,200 (12:09.12) and fourth in the 1,600 (5:29.4). Ava Newman (9-6) and Gianna Busdeker (8-6) finished fourth and fifth in the pole vault, and Josie Kancler (15-8 1/2) and Erica Raubenolt (15-7) took fourth and fifth in the long jump. Mia Zeis, Abby Lewis, Morgan Roach and Newman ran fourth in the 4x100 (51.98). Blonde, Emma Musgrave, Leah Weingart and Kenzie Felske took fifth in the 4x800 (10:33.45). Aleyah Brown, Abby Lewis, Newman and Zeis ended sixth in the 4x200 (1:51.82) for the Tornadoes. Weingart, Raubenolt, Madie Hardina and Kancler wound up seventh in the 4x400 (4:29.46). Columbian got eighths from Zeis in the 200 (28.06) and Abby Lewis in the high jump (4-8). Grace Tackett keyed Old Fort with a fourth in the 3,200 (12:10.55) and a seventh in the 1,600 (5:42.72). The Stockaders got a fifth from Carly Fortney (1:03.64) and an eighth from Emmersyn Pump (1:05.67) in the 400. Adelyn Dick (17.71) and Adriana Hinojosa-Gonzalez (18.01) ran seventh and eighth in the 100 hurdles. Mackenzie Fortney, Pump, Kristin Combs and Carly Fortney took eighth in the 4x400 (4:33.12). VARSITY SOFTBALL: Clyde thumped Perkins 17-2 Friday to improve to 19-5 overall and 10-0 in the Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division. Ella Howey, Kennedi Long and Vanessa West each belted three hits for the Fliers, with Howey getting two doubles and Long having one. Ember Andres homered and singled, Mya Stiefel singled twice, Ariah Farrar doubled and winning pitcher Taitum Jeffrey singled. VARSITY TENNIS: Chandler Elkins and Reece Gottfried took second at third doubles and Carter Heilman and Gage McWilliams took second at fourth doubles Friday to help Upper Sandusky end third at the Fremont Ross Invitational. The event was a doubles tournament with teams from Fremont Ross, Columbian, Upper Sandusky, Fostoria, Sandusky, Oak Harbor and Norwalk, as well as a combined team consisting of an extra doubles team from each of four schools. Elkins and Gottfried beat the combo team from from Oak Harbor 8-1 and Sandusky 8-2 before falling 8-1 in the finals to Oak Harbor. Heilman and McWilliams beat the teams from Fostoria 8-1 and Oak Harbor 8-3 before falling 8-5 to Fremont Ross in the finals. Ryan Day and Nick Nieset added a third at second doubles for the Rams. They opened with an 8-5 win against Oak Harbor, then lost 8-3 to Columbian before beating the combo team from Columbian 6-3. Upper Sandusky's Abraham Baldwin and Lyman Starner took fifth at first doubles. They fell 8-1 to Columbian, beat the combo Fremont Ross team 6-0 and beat Oak Harbor 6-3. Fremont Ross took the team title and Columbian ended second. For TC, Zach Shawberry and Parker Stroub won the second doubles title, while Parker Nye and Jarrett Jaeck were third at third doubles, Caden Elchert and Wyatt Taylor got fourth at second doubles and Ryan Arnold and Grant Blonde finished sixth at fourth doubles.
