Color your world at the library this summer

After a long winter, summer is finally right around the corner. With warm weather and no school, it's the perfect time to indulge in some fun reading and exciting events, and the Tiffin-Seneca Public Library is your number one stop for both this summer! "Color Our World" with the summer reading program June 2 through July 31, and we're packing every week with exciting activities and special events. We have summer reading activities for all ages, including our smallest library lovers. Our Rubber Ducky Club is designed for birth through age three, asking caretakers to do fun early literacy activities with their children. After completing a certain amount, the activity log can be redeemed for a board book. Picking up a Rubber Ducky Club log comes with a gift of a shaky egg and a scarf. For children aged three to fifth grade, our youth reading adventure encourages reading for twenty minutes a day, and every 200 minutes read is an entry for a grand prize. Another entry can be earned by completing certain activities on the reading log, like creating a piece of art, doing a science experiment, or enjoying the storybook trail at Scheckelhoff Park. Upon picking up a reading log, children can select a book to take home to start their reading adventure. Summer should also be full of fun adventures and new experiences, all of which can be found at the Library! If you want to get an early start on reading, our summer kickoff is Friday, May 30, starting at 5:00 PM. Join us at the East Green behind the library to pick up summer reading logs for all ages, have a snack, and color the sidewalk with chalk. At 6:00 p.m., Dr. Dave will present the Whiz Bang Science Show at the East Green amphitheater. Other special events this summer include an exotic animal show, a magic show, and a chance to make some loud music in the library. We also have Family Storytime on Tuesday mornings at 10:00 a.m., and our fun drop-in adventures on Thursday afternoons from 2:00 p.m. through 4:00 p.m. Rubber Ducky Time will be every Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. for babies and their caregivers. Our regular LEGO Saturday, Tween STEAM Time (for grades 4 and 5), and A Walk Through the Arts (for grades 2 and 3) will continue over the summer. Families are encouraged to read a book together and join us for our Family Book Club on Tuesday, July 15, at 6:00 p.m. for discussions, snacks, and activities. At the end of the summer, join us for a party to celebrate a summer full of reading and adventure! We'll have our annual Ice Cream Extravaganza on Thursday, July 31, at 3:00 p.m., where we'll make ice cream sundaes and play some BINGO! All this and more awaits at the Library!
