Outright SBC River champs: Blue Jackets blast St. Joe 15-0

FREMONT – New Riegel didn't leave any doubt Monday as after clinching at least a share of the SBC River title Saturday in a road win at Gibsonburg, all it needed was a win either against Fremont St. Joe or Hopewell-Loudon this week to win it out right. After a nine-run top of the first inning Monday, the Blue Jackets routed the Streaks 15-0.Alexis Mathias paced the Blue Jackets (20-3, 16-1 SBC River) with two doubles, a single and two RBIs, while Ashlyn Bouillon singled twice and drove in a run, Lilly Schalk and Ava Wensink both singled and drove in a pair of runs and Claire Schalk drove in two runs.Karsyn Piper was dominant once again in the circle, twirling a one-hit shutout with nine strikeouts in her five innings. It took her only 67 pitches to get through five innings. Sendelbach, H-L gets by Polar BearsCASTALIA – There were quite a few hits and a lot of runs Monday, but Hopewell-Loudon managed to end on top in an 8-6 win at Margaretta.H-L (19-6) tallied 14 hits as Cohen Sendelbach was 3 for 4 at the dish with a double and three RBIs. Jack Colatruglio (2 RBI), Kellen Frankart and Braylon Martinez all recorded two hits, while Brayden Brickman doubled and drove in a run and Austin Smith singled and drove in a run. Matt Wyman got the win on the rubber, allowing five runs on seven hits in five innings of work. He fanned seven and walked four on 98 pitches. Raiders sweep Old FortOLD FORT – Lakota completed the season sweep of Old Fort Monday in a 7-2 SBC River win.Grant Bomer doubled, singled and drove in a run for the Raiders (12-10), while Jacob Hines added a pair of singles and an RBI, Jack Widman singled and drove in a pair of runs, AJ Gosche singled and drove in a run and Hunter Sweeney doubled.Derek Skeel lined two singles for Old Fort (6-16). It also got a single and an RBI from Ryan Adelsperger.Sweeney picked up the win on the hill, allowing no runs on just two hits in four innings. He fanned five and walked just one. Elijah Garza suffered the loss in his six innings of work. He gave up seven runs on nine hits. Hoover, Golden Bears blank NRGIBSONBURG – Gibsonburg's Nolan Hoover had his stuff working Monday in a 3-0 win over SBC River foe New Riegel. Hoover scattered just three hits in the win. Shane Jones suffered the loss on the bump.At the dish, Carson Pahl, Blake Moes and Carter Clouse all singled for the Blue Jackets (13-10, 10-7). Hoover doubled, singled and drove in a pair of runs for Gibsonburg. Clyde pounds Huron lateHURON – Clyde led Huron 6-3 after five innings Monday, but then plated five insurance runs to grab an 11-4 win.Kam Shortridge was 2 for 3 at the plate with two RBIs for the Fliers (10-14), while Jonathan Lantz doubled and drove in two runs, Brayden Olson singled and drove in a pair of runs, Gavyn Boggs, Hill and Nico Carroll all singled and drove in a run and Adam Young had an RBI.Boggs picked up the win on the bump in his two relief innings. Lindsey, Redmen cruise by CometsGENOA – Bellevue's Caden Lindsey drove in three runs on a pair of singles to lead Bellevue by Genoa 6-1 Monday.Ike Brown tacked on a double and a single, while Reid Claus doubled and drove in a pair of runs and Drew Dennings, Tatum Gore, Sam Cooper and Grant Musser all singled.Cooper Winke went the distance on the mound, allowing just one run on three hits with nine punchouts and five walks on 106 pitches. Bucks out-slug FalconsMOUNT BLANCHARD – As of late, Buckeye Central's offense has been sputtering just a bit. That was not the case Monday in a 13-10 victory at Riverdale.BC (11-13) tallied 11 hits as Austin Estridge doubled, singled twice and drove in three runs, while Jeremiah Fishpaw (2 RBI), Hunter Caudill (2 RBI) and Dylan Heydinger (RBI) all produced two hits and Cayden Jarvis singled and drove in a run.Estridge was the winning pitcher, giving up five runs (one earned) on three hits in five innings on the hill. Fishpaw and Jarvis also pitched to close it out. Fliers finish with a sweepOAK HARBOR – Clyde tennis finished off a spectacular season with a 5-0 sweep of Oak Harbor Monday to wrap up the season 18-2 overall.At singles play, No. 1 Aric Kauble dropped Caiden Velliquette 6-1, 6-0, while No. 2 Alex Krintzline defeated Noah Jess 7-5, 6-0 and No. 3 Connor Eastby topped Adam Kurtz 6-3, 6-1.Second doubles was a battle as the Fliers pair of Hunter Begley and Mallory Eastby survived against Everett Hand and Aiden Boss 6-2, 2-6, 12-10.
