In Motion recital 'schools' dancers

TIFFIN — Just in time for the school year to end, In Motion dancers are preparing to get schooled. Jennifer Karl, owner of In Motion Dance Studio of Tiffin, said this year's recital is titled You Got Schooled!, with all dances related to school themes. The idea, she said, was the result of "collective brainstorming" among her staff early in the season, and allows for a lot of variety in choreography and costumes. School spots, clubs, types of classes, lunch and recess are all on the table for dancers, she said. You Got Schooled! will take place May 30 and 31 and June 1, with six separate performances scheduled at The Ritz Theatre, 30 S. Washington St., Tiffin. Show 1 at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, May 30 Show 2 at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 30 Show 3 at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 31 Show 4 at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 31 Show 5 at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 31 Show 6 at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 1 All styles of dance, including ballet, jazz, tap, musical theatre, acro, contemporary, hip hop and pom pom, will be featured in the recital, and dance team performances will also take place. The annual Red Carpet Award show will be on June 1 at 5:30 p.m. Recital sees new performances Three new highlights are included in this year's recital, including a Dad Dance for F.A.C.T., a Someone Special Dance and a Shining Stars performance. The Dad Dance will raise money for Financial Assistance for Cancer Treatment (F.A.C.T.) of Seneca County, with each participant either signing up or being nominated to participate in the dance. "I wasn't sure how it was going to go," Karl said, "But I don't think they are going to be shy." Thirteen dads are slated to dance with the performance taking place during Show 2. Karl said she and one other instructor donated their time to organize the Dad Dance, and Tiffin Dye-namic Design donated t-shirts for participants to wear. All proceeds will go to F.A.C.T., she said, since "cancer affects everybody." Dancers also had the opportunity to select a special family member (mom, dad, grandma, or even a family friend) with whom to partner for a Someone Special Dance. Eleven pairs of dancers/special guests will take the stage together during Show 4. In addition, one new class of dancers will take the stage this year as part of the In Motion program, Shining Stars, Karl said she hopes will continue to grow. The program is a special needs class that incorporates 'team buddy' volunteers to help guide dancers through class and the recital. Shining Stars will take the stage during Show 6. Students to be recognized Several In Motion students are being recognized this year, having reached milestones of life and dance to be celebrated. 2025 seniors include Gianna Busdeker, Courtney Feasel, Olivia Freeborn, Isabella Humphrey, Alyssa Jaeck, Briella Keeton, Olivia Musa, Adalynn Schumm, Logan Sebetto, Casey Vasko and Makenzie Zoeller. 15-year students include Olivia Freeborn and Olivia Musa, and 10-year students include Florica Handru, Quinn Kleba, Hailey Newland, Ava Newman, Marlee Reino, Marie Schumm, Logan Sebetto, Kyla Snyder, Millie Weidner and Makenzie Zoeller.
