ProMedica Fostoria Foundation, Auxiliary award scholarships

FOSTORIA — ProMedia Fostoria Community Hospital Foundation and Auxiliary awarded 12 local students $15,000 scholarships from three dedicated funds administered by the Foundation Board. Funds are established by former nurses, physicians, and their families to inspire health care professionals. The Foundation and Auxiliary hosted a scholarship reception to honor scholarship recipients and their families. Awarded scholarships • G.H.W Bruggemann Memorial Scholarship Fund: Supports ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital employees and their children, scholarships awarded to Abigail Beidelschies, Evelyn Guernsey and Samantha Wellman. • J.L. Murphy Memorial Scholarship Fund: Supports careers in medicine, scholarships awarded to Annemarie Berg, Wade Kreais and Nathaniel Mack. • J.A. Murray Memorial Scholarship Fund: Supports clinical and hospital-based careers, scholarships awarded to Grant Bomer, Emily Brinkner, Caroline Dye, Aubrey Johnson, Kayleigh Lininger and Sophie Piper. The ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital Auxiliary also awarded scholarship funds totaling $2,000 to four local students: Isabella Jones, Abigail Beidelscies, Olivia Coutinho and Lexi Smith. Isabella Jones, a graduate of Tiffin Calvert High School, will attend the University of Toledo to study health sciences with a concentration in pre-physician assistant studies. Abigail Beidelschies, a graduate of Hopewell-Loudon High School, will attend The Ohio State University to pursue a degree in physical therapy. Olivia Coutinho, a graduate of Van Buren High School and Millstream Career Center, will attend Bowling Green State University to study medical laboratory science. Lexi Smith, a graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School, is currently enrolled at Baldwin Wallace University, where she is studying speech therapy. Since 1997, the Foundation's scholarship program has awarded more than $220,000 to students pursuing health care careers. The Auxiliary supports ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital through operation of the hospital's gift shop, volunteer service, and its ongoing scholarship program.
