Vietnam Traveling Memorial opening ceremony moves inside Due to expected high temperatures and humidity, Thursday's opening ceremony for the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall's visit to Fostoria has been moved indoors to the Wainwright Performing Arts Center in Fostoria Junior/Senior High School. The ceremony is scheduled for 4 p.m., following the expected morning arrival of the replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. During its stay in Fostoria until Monday morning, the wall will be stationed in the grassy area between school's south parking lot and H.L. Ford Drive. Also on display will the Eyes of Freedom memorial. The wall is expected to arrive in Fostoria behind a motorcycle escort at about 9:30 a.m., Thursday. The processional will enter the city from the west on Lytle Street, head north on Midblock and west again, on South Street, to Countyline Street. After traveling north on Countyline Street, the processional will turn west onto Park Avenue and proceed to the junior/senior high school. The wall and Eyes of Freedom will be available for visitation around the clock during its stay, with security present. No admission will be charged. Visitors to the exhibits must provide their own food and/or drinks. No vendors will be on-site during the memorial's time in Fostoria. 'Drummunity' happening at Fostoria library Lori Fithian of Ann Arbor, Michigan, will create a "Drummunity" when she visits Fostoria's Kaubisch Memorial Public Library at 4 p.m., Monday, as part of the library's youth summer reading challenge. Fithian will bring her collection of hand drums and percussion toys to create a drum circle for a community-building event in which youngsters may participate. Events in the summer reading challenge are free and open to the public. Youngsters may still register for the summer reading challenge, themed "Color Our World," on the Beanstack app, by visiting www.fostoria.beanstack.org or by visiting the Children's Department of the library, located at 205 Perry St. Meetings • The Seneca County Regional Planning Commission's Subdivision and Land Use committee will meet at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25, in the basement conference room of the RTA building. The purpose of the meeting is to review the county's current subdivision regulations.
