Seneca Arrows shine at Special Olympics Summer Games

COLUMBUS — The Seneca Arrows had a strong showing at the Special Olympics of Ohio Summer Games, bringing home medals in multiple sports and demonstrating teamwork, sportsmanship and determination throughout the weekend. Track and Field Highlights The Arrows' track athletes had a busy and successful meet. In the 100-meter dash, Thomas Hammer and Matt Spencer each earned gold medals. Arrin Allen claimed the bronze, and Timothy Culver placed seventh. In field events, Sam Barrick earned the Arrows' first gold medal of the weekend in the softball throw. Culver also brought home gold in the mini javelin. Kaleb Jakcsy earned silver in the 100-meter dash and placed fourth in the running long jump. Allen placed fourth in the mini javelin, and Spencer finished fifth in the same event. Hammer also took fourth in the standing long jump. In the 100-meter walk, Barrick earned fourth place. The 4x100-meter relay team — made up of Allen, Spencer, Hammer and Jakcsy — put in a great effort and took fifth place overall. Bowling Success Seneca's bowlers had a strong weekend, with multiple athletes finishing on the podium. Ruben Villarreal, Steve Scifers, Ashley Fahle, and Emily Kleinfelter each earned silver medals for their efforts on the lanes. Golden Finish in Bocce The Arrows' bocce teams came away with top honors. Cierra Meddles and Nedra Coats earned gold in their division, while Andrew Pool and Joey Napier—competing as the "Golden AJs"—also struck gold.
