Transportation org announces safety manager

SENECA COUNTY — North Central Area Transit (NCAT), a local transportation organization, has promoted employee Winston Allen to safety manager. He has been with NCAT for almost 13 years and was promoted in October 2024 from driver to road supervisor. "He showed tremendous growth in his road supervisor role and fit the criteria we were looking for in a safety manager," said Kelsie Schleter, assistant director of NCAT. Allen will lead safety initiatives and oversee efforts to provide safe, reliable transportation across Seneca, Huron and Crawford counties. In addition to his responsibilities at NCAT, he volunteers for many community events, including Shop with a Cop, United Way activities and local parades, according to the organization. NCAT Executive Director Mary Habig said Allen is "an icon of Fostoria" who is known for his passion, commitment and positive impact on the community. "We're excited to announce this promotion." Allen said he gained significant knowledge during his time as road manager and "felt it was time to challenge myself even more. I look forward to what the future holds for myself and North Central Area Transit." He expressed gratitude for the guidance and mentorship of Habig and Schleter, along with the support of his wife and kids, who "really helped push me to keep reaching beyond my vision."
