Come out to Fremont's car show

FREMONT — Downtown Fremont will host the Fremont Federal Credit Union Car Show, a rain-or-shine event, from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday. Organized by Downtown Fremont Inc., people can register for the car show by visiting downtownfremontohio.org/car-shows. Awards and trophies will be awarded at 7:45 p.m. Dash plaques and goodie bags will be given to the first 150 participants, and there will also be a 50/50 raffle plus door prizes. Food trucks and special vendors will also be part of the car show. Among some highlights: • During the car show, the Genoa American Legion Band will be at the corner of Birchard and Front streets, performing a variety of patriotic songs. The band is from the American Legion Post 324 in Genoa and plays throughout northwest Ohio. People can learn more by visiting genoaamericanlegionband.com. • At 5:30 p.m., Down Thyme Cafe will host the annual frankfurter contest, which is its annual hot dog-eating contest. People can compete against one another in a rapid hot dog-eating contest. Prizes will be awarded for first and second place. People can contact the cafe for more information. • This car show, the second of 2025, continues to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Downtown Fremont Car Shows. People can call/text 567-342-4758 for more information. • In The Sticks will be at the Fremont Community Amphitheater from 8-11 p.m. following the car show. It is a country/rock 'n' roll group. This event is free to the public. It's recommended people bring chairs and blankets to sit on. People can find the amphitheater at 209 S. Arch St. in downtown Fremont. Note to all: From 2-10 p.m., there will be no parking on Front Street between Croghan Street and Hayes Avenue and on Garrison Street between Arch Street and Bidwell Avenue in downtown Fremont.
