Tiffin 9-year-old victim of drowning

TIFFIN — A Tiffin 9-year-old drowned while swimming Saturday, June 28, at Clinton Mobile Home Resort, 60 N. State Route 101, Tiffin. Deputy Christopher Potter with the Seneca County Sheriff's Office said Ava McCourt drowned while swimming with her father's fiancée, Christina Bryant, and a group of other people at the Clinton Mobile Home Resort's pool. He shared that Bryant last saw Ava, who did not know how to swim, on a pool noodle and after turning her head away for a brief time, the child had disappeared. Ava's father, Jesse McCourt, was fishing nearby, Potter said. The search began and another child discovered her in the water. According to a Sheriff's incident report, Ava was found "lying on the bottom of the pool in the deep end" and was removed from the pool unresponsive. A bystander began CPR, according to the report, until EMS arrived at the scene. Ava was transported to Mercy Tiffin Hospital and pronounced deceased in the emergency room. She was taken to the Lucas County Coroner's Office for an autopsy. Potter said no safety issues were noted with the pool and the "investigation is over." No charges were filed. Personnel from the Seneca County Sheriff's Office, Tiffin Police Department and EMS and Clinton Township Fire Department responded to the scene.
