Local financial advisor attends advisor summit Local financial advisor Elaine Daugherty recently attended the 2025 Forbes/SHOOK Top Women Advisor Summit in Manalapan, Florida. According to a press release, the summit "gathers highly successful women financial advisors from across the U.S.," and consists of three days of industry-leading speakers, with a focus on industry trends. "I look forward to integrating the insights and knowledge from this conference into our work, helping clients develop strategies that can build a lifetime of financial confidence and security," Daugherty said in the release. Town hall to address youth community concerns A newly formed group of local professionals will host a town hall in August focused on young people in the community. EC3, the Early Childhood Coordinating Committee, "is composed of providers from the medical arena to the educational arena to the social services arena, all with the goal and focus on lifting up the most vulnerable in our community," a press release states. The town hall is an opportunity for community members to voice concerns and questions regarding Seneca County youth, from pregnancy through five years of age, according to the release. The event will also explain services available in the area for families with young children, and address gaps in those services, it states. The town hall will take place from 6-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 7, at Tiffin Middle School, 103 Shepherd Dr. Ohio's Summer Crisis Program now accepting applications The Ohio Department of Development and Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging are offering cooling assistance this summer through the Home Energy Assistance Summer Crisis Program. From July 1 through Sept. 30, income-eligible households can apply for help with electric bills, air conditioner or fan purchases, or repairs to central air units. The program supports those facing shut-offs, seeking new electric service, or with medical conditions requiring cooling assistance. Households with residents age 60 or older may also qualify with physician documentation. Eligibility requires a gross income at or below 175% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines for households of up to eight people, or at or below 60% of the State Median Income for households of nine or more. For a family of four, the annual income limit is $56,262.50. In 2024, the program served more than 44,000 households, distributing $13.5 million in benefits. This year, applicants can use a new online portal at energyhelp.ohio.gov by creating an OHID account. Appointments with the local community action agency are still required to apply. Required documents include recent energy bills, proof of income, citizenship or legal residency, and, if applicable, medical or disability documentation. Meetings • Tiffin City Council will meet at 6 p.m. on Monday, July 14 in council chambers at City Hall, 51 E. Market St. Per the meeting notice, the council is to consider Ordinance 2025-57: a proposed license agreement with Bascom Communications, along with any other business that may come before the body. • The New Riegel Local Board of Education will meet at 7 a.m. on Thursday, July 17 in the school district's administrative offices.
