Heidelberg extends computer science endorsement scholarship

TIFFIN — Heidelberg University has received an extension of its 2024 Teach Computer Science Endorsement Grant, funded by the Ohio Department of Higher Education. The grant covers tuition, course materials, exam preparation and testing fees for Ohio educators seeking a computer science endorsement. The goal of the program is to increase the number of qualified computer science teachers as the state prepares to implement new high school graduation requirements. Twenty-three educators completed the inaugural cohort in May. The program is now open to licensed teachers across Ohio, with 10 spots available in the August 2025 cohort. Participants will complete four online, asynchronous courses totaling 12 credit hours between August 2025 and May 2026. To qualify, applicants must hold a valid Ohio teaching license and earn a minimum score of 46 on the ALEKS math placement test. Applications will be accepted until August.
