Sutton Bank supports FELC with $10,000 donation Sutton Bank has contributed $10,000 to the Franciscan Earth Literacy Center to help expand access to environmental education and sustainable living programs. The funds will help cover scholarships for individuals who may not otherwise be able to participate in FELC's year-round offerings, such as hands-on workshops, summer camps and other educational opportunities. A portion of the donation will also help cover costs for those in need to maintain community garden plots at Seeds of Hope Farm. "Supporting environmental education and stewardship is one way we invest in our communities," said Brody Fultz, vice president at Sutton Bank. "We're pleased to partner with FELC in helping people connect with the land and learn to care for it." The Center offers programming to more than 3,000 participants each year, with a mission rooted in Franciscan values, including care for creation and support for vulnerable populations. "This donation allows us to continue providing meaningful experiences that foster a deeper understanding of the natural world," said Hannah Bumb, FELC administrator and program coordinator. Ohio Institute of Osteopathic Medicine offers screening for peripheral arterial disease The Ohio Institute of Osteopathic Medicine is now offering in-office testing for peripheral arterial disease through a non-invasive ankle-brachial index screening. The test compares blood pressure readings in the arms and legs to help detect reduced blood flow caused by narrowed arteries — a condition that can lead to serious complications if left untreated. Common symptoms include cramping, fatigue, or discomfort in the legs during physical activity. Peripheral arterial disease affects an estimated 12 million Americans, according to the American Heart Association, and often goes undiagnosed. Updated guidelines from the American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association recommend screenings for patients over age 65, adults 50–64 with risk factors such as diabetes or high cholesterol, and younger patients with both diabetes and another risk factor. "We are focused on providing comprehensive direct primary care for our patients," said Dr. Zachary K. West, who operates the clinic with J. Dian West, RN. "We've invested in a high-quality, automated system that delivers reliable vascular assessments right in our office."
