Seneca County Mercy Community Nature Preserve – New Trail Opening! – 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 23 at Mercy Community Nature Preserve, 45 St. Lawrence Dr., Tiffin. A new section of trail is set to open, guiding visitors along a natural surface path through wooded hillside north of the creek. The entrance is located at the end of the parking lot. Sandusky County Edible Experiments – 1:30–2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 20 at Creek Bend Farm: Wilson Nature Center, 720 S. Main St., Lindsey. Families can explore basic science concepts through simple, edible experiments in honor of National Ice Cream Day. Activities are designed for children and adults to enjoy together. Spilling the Tea – 1:30–3:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 23 at Creek Bend Farm: Homestead House, Wilson Nature Center. Held the fourth Wednesday of each month, this program invites participants to learn about life in the 1930s through themed teas, diary entries, and historical materials. July's topic focuses on Independence Day celebrations. Snapshot Safari – 10–11 a.m. Sunday, July 28 at Creek Bend Farm: Wilson Nature Center, 720 S. Main St., Lindsey. Participants are encouraged to bring a camera or smartphone for a guided trail walk featuring a nature-themed scavenger hunt for sights and scenes along the way. Register online at lovemyparks.com. Crawford County Schanzenbach Prairie – 6 p.m. Saturday, July 19 at 4924 Henry Cooper Rd. This guided tour highlights a tallgrass prairie and newly added wetlands on a privately owned conservation farm. National Moth Week – 9 p.m. Saturday, July 19 at Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 OH-598, Crestline. In recognition of National Moth Week, attendees can observe and identify native moth species using citizen science light-trap setups. Viewing the Night Sky – 9:30 p.m. Saturday, July 26 at Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 OH-598, Crestline. Members of the Crawford Park Astronomy Club will assist in viewing summer constellations and deep-sky objects. The program will move indoors in case of poor weather. No registration required. Wood County DIY Arrow Make-and-Shoot – 10 a.m.–Noon Thursday, July 24 at Arrowwood Archery Range, 11126 Linwood Rd., Bowling Green. Participants will create a wooden arrow and receive basic instruction on archery safety and technique. All equipment provided. Open to ages 8 and up. Youth must be accompanied by a legal guardian. River Wading – 6:30–8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 24 at Buttonwood/Betty C. Black Recreation Area, 27174 Hull Prairie Rd., Perrysburg. Attendees will explore the Maumee River's ecology through hands-on wading and aquatic investigation. Appropriate footwear and quick-dry clothing recommended. Program may be canceled due to high water or weather. Craft Circle – 1–4 p.m. Saturday, July 26 at Carter Historic Farm: Loomis Community Room, 18331 Carter Rd., Bowling Green. "Doc" Phillips Discovery Center Open House – 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Saturday, July 19 at Oakwoods Nature Preserve: Discovery Center. Includes unstructured and structured activities, wildlife viewing, exhibits, and nature displays. A fungi hike begins at Noon. Woodcarving demonstrations run 1–4 p.m. No registration required. Living Fossils – 6 p.m. Monday, July 21 at Oakwoods Nature Preserve: Discovery Center Porch. Features living species with prehistoric origins and fossil displays. Includes a fossil playdough activity. For ages 6–9 with an adult. Register with $5 per child by 1 p.m. July 21. Outdoor Recreation Day: Kayaking the Blanchard River – 10 a.m.–Noon Tuesday, July 22 at Zonta Landing, Riverside Park. Introduction to kayaking followed by a guided float. Equipment and snacks provided. For ages 10–14. Register with $10 per child by 1 p.m. July 21. Little Hands Nature Club: Simple Machines – 10 a.m. Thursday, July 24 at Litzenberg Memorial Woods: Shelter. Hands-on activities introduce six types of simple machines. For ages 3–6 with an adult. No registration required. Family Campfire – 6–8 p.m. Friday, July 25 at Oakwoods Nature Preserve: Discovery Center Porch. Includes food, games, music, and nature-themed activities. For all ages.
