WIN Waste donates $16K to Fostoria YMCA

FOSTORIA — WIN Waste Innovations this year helped make summer activities more accessible, enriching and fun for many Fostoria youth this summer with a $16,700 donation to the Geary Family YMCA for its Summer Recreation Camp. The donation enabled the YMCA to reduce the cost of the camp from $50 to $20 per child, per week. The YMCA said the cost reduction sent enrollment from minimal to full immediately. The camp ran from June 9 to July 31. "We know how important this program is to our community," Kristen Tiell, chief executive officer of the Geary Family YMCA, was quoted as saying in the release. "I'm incredibly grateful to WIN Waste for their generous financial support. I'm also thankful to our dedicated counselors, who did an amazing job, creating a fun and memorable summer for the kids." Tiell said each week's camp drew as many as 25 youngsters. The camp, conducted at Fostoria Elementary School, allowed campers to take part in various activities, such as arts and crafts, games and hearing from guest speakers. Campers also received a complimentary lunch and snacks through WIN Waste's sponsorship. "The camp simply would not have been possible this year without WIN Waste Innovations," said Trey Yates, the Geary Family YMCA's program director. "Their support allowed us to offer a meaningful and affordable experience for families in our community who may not otherwise have had access to this kind of opportunity." The press release said the YMCA camp aims to provide a safe, supervised environment where children can "build friendships, explore new interests and stay active during the summer months and that WIN Waste Innovations' investment "reflects the company's ongoing commitment to supporting youth, education and community well-being in Seneca County and beyond." "We're proud to help make a difference for families in Fostoria and the surrounding communities," said Tim Watson, general manager of WIN Waste Innovations' Seneca County facility. "Every child deserves the chance to make memories, build confidence and have fun during the summer. We're honored to be part of making that possible."
