United Way offers financial wellness course

TIFFIN — The United Way of North Central Ohio (UWNCO) Financial Peace University (FPU) course will begin in Sept. Laura Weir, marketing and communications director for UWNCO, said the course is offered annually, both in-person and virtually. The course consists of nine weeks of classes "designed to help give individuals who struggle with finances the tools they need to improve income stability, reduce debt, budget for success and build wealth," according to UWNCO. FPU is taught by facilitator Brandie Gruss, a lifestyle coach who "is certified to lead Financial Peace University courses, Weir shared. The fall session begins Sept. 3 and meets from 6-9 p.m. each Wednesday at the office of UWNCO, 201 S. Washington St., Tiffin. The in-person course is limited to ten attendees and each student who completes the course will receive a small stipend. Financial Peace University is offered free of charge through a bequest from the Eugene Good Family Trust. A virtual session of the FPU will begin in Jan. 2026 and can accommodate 16 participants.
