Summer reading wrap-up

Summer Reading wrap-up The Tiffin-Seneca Public Library would like to thank the Tiffin and Seneca County community for another amazing summer at the Library! The 2025 summer reading program, "Color Our World," was designed to inspire and engage readers of all ages through a diverse array of artistic expressions (including themed programs and prizes), and we at the Tiffin-Seneca Public Library are so grateful to everyone who joined the fun! The Youth Services Summer Reading Program had 151 readers who read for 2,494 hours this summer! The program was for children from birth to entering fifth grade, and asked participants to read in 20-minute intervals. Additional prize entries could be earned for doing fun activities such as visiting The Tiffin Storybook Trail at Schekelhoff Park, or helping cook a meal. Our special events, which included the Whiz Bang Science Show with Dr. Dave, weekly Family Storytime and Adventure Thursday programs, Rubber Ducky Wednesday, a live animal show with the Exotic Zoo, Drummunity, a family book club, an ice cream party and BINGO, and a magic show from Dana Hill Magic, saw 1,800 attendees over the two-month period! The teen program was a huge success as well! The program had 29 readers who read 126 books and the equivalent of 1,111 days of reading! Teens met every week for special events such as open gaming, put their taste buds to the test in a Snack Smackdown, art club, anime club, an art challenge, trivia, made mini magazines, DIY succulents, worked together in a detective challenge, made pixel art keychains using Perler beads, and the two most popular events – cupcake decorating and tote bag painting! Attendance at these special events was 114 – double the participation of last year's programs! The adult reading program had 244 participants (including residents of our extension services and homebound readers) who read 3,408 books – 17 more participants and 288 more books than last year! For every book read, adults earned a prize entry for grand prizes and gift cards to local businesses. Adults also enjoyed special programs such as an adult Interactive Movie Night featuring the The Da Vinci Code, an adult craft night where we painted landscaping bricks to look like book stacks, a crafts supplies swap, and a trivia night! The summer reading program is only possible because of generous donations from local businesses and organizations who believe in the power of a supportive community! Major donors this year are Dell Burtis Law for sponsoring a grand prize and additional prizes, The Friends of the Tiffin-Seneca Public Library for a generous donation used on amazing performers, The Poignon Project for donating a glassblowing experience as a grand prize, Seneca Starvue for donating free movie passes as a completion prize, Pan Yan Bookstore for donating books to give away at signup, Ralph's Joy of Living, Xcaret Mexican Restaurant, Asian Grill Buffet, Bailiwicks Coffee Company, Simply Susan's, The Empire, Seneca Parks, Threads, Washington Street Outfitters, Jolly's Drive-In, and The Deli at Frost Village.
