ODOT holding open house on Fostoria traffic improvement The Ohio Department of Transportation will host an open house Tuesday at the Fostoria Learning Center regarding a traffic-improvement program in the city.The session, scheduled for 4 to 7 p.m. In the Collaboration Studio of the Learning Center, 342 Perry St., will enable citizens to learn about ODOT's efforts "to improve safety and mobility of the at-grade crossings of South Town Street and Columbus Avenue at the CSX and Norfolk Southern railroads," according to ODOT.Visitors will be able to see the "recommended, preferred alternative" for the project and to share their thoughts with the project team, ODOT said. Kaubisch Library hosting family puzzle event The Youth Services Department of Kaubisch Memorial Public Library in Fostoria has scheduled a family puzzle challenge for 4:30 p.m., Sept. 2.Up to four members of a family may register to take part in the challenge, in which each group will start a puzzle at the same time. The first team to complete the challenge, or the one with the most done by 5:30 p.m., will be the winner.Advance registration is required by calling 419-435-2813, ext. 121.The library is located at 205 Perry St. Meeting notices • Members of the Seneca County Board of Elections will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, at the board office, 71 S. Washington St., downtown Tiffin. The meeting will include a review of write-in candidate submissions and any other business that comes before the board. • A Board of Control Meeting will take place at 10 a.m., Thursday, August 28, at Tiffin City Hall, 51 E. Market St., Tiffin. The following issues will be addressed, as well as any other business that might come before the board: the Construction Contract Award and Design Contract Change Order for SCO 9-13 and 15, and a final change order for the 2025 Street Paving Program. Taste in Downtown Tiffin The annual Taste in Downtown Tiffin is scheduled for 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at National Corner, the Tiffin-Seneca Public Library parking lot and Jefferson Street. The event will feature menu samples from a variety of local eateries. Tickets, sold in packs of five for $5 or 20 for $20, are available at Pan Yan Bookstore, Simply Susan's, or at the event. Most food items will cost one to three tickets. Following the Taste, the Tiffin Parks & Recreation Department will host its annual Band Bash from 7-9 p.m. at the Frost-Kalnow Amphitheater on the East Green, featuring local high school and university marching bands. Sermon to address 'Spiritual Battles' at West Independence service Bible passage 1 Corinthians 10:1-13 will be read preceding the Rev. Ben Wallick's message, "Spiritual Battles — Lust," during Sunday's 9 a.m., worship service at West Independence Church in Fostoria.West Independence is a Global Methodist Church located at 22876 U.S. Route 224.
