VOLLEYBALL: Gibsonburg swept Lakota 25-18, 25-17, 25-21 Tuesday. For Lakota, Queen Beard had 10 kills and two aces, while Emma Jurovcik added six kills, Sophia Bomer collected 19 assists, and eight digs and Addie Gilbert made eight digs.New Riegel swept aside Northwood 25-18, 25-9, 25-13 Tuesday night. Karsyn Piper led the charge with nine kills and a pair of blocks, followed by Lacey Schalk with six kills and nine digs, Addison Theis with six kills and eight digs, Lilly Schalk with 14 assists and 11 digs, Claire Schalk with 14 assists, 20 digs and eight kills and Ava Wensink with 19 digs. JV VOLLEYBALL: Gibsonburg topped Lakota 25-12, 25-18. JUNIOR HIGH VOLLEYBALL: Calvert's eighth grade defeated New Riegel Wednesday 25-19, 25-8 as Natelie Tiell produced 10 assists and five digs for Calvert. It also got six aces, six assists and a pair of kills from Logan Persohn and three aces and three kills by Aubrey Steyer.Calvert's eighth grade topped Northwood 25-6, 25-11 Monday. Persohn collected eight aces and seven assists and Tiell added five aces and seven assists. JUNIOR HIGH FOOTBALL: Mohawk's eighth grade blanked Bucyrus 40-0. Chance Collene ran for a touchdown, Tyson Kirian rushed for a TD, Parker Hill completed the two-point conversion run, Liam Zender completed a 55-yard TD pass to Logan Clouse as Zender also had a pick on defense. Liam Martinez stripped the ball and returned it for a defensive score. He also completed a TD pass to Grady Wilkins and added a two-point conversion run. Karson Prator forced a fumble with the recovery from Reid Jacoby. Collene finished the night with a TD pass to Martinez.Mohawk's seventh grade topped Bucyrus 28-6. Lucas Steyer hit Jalen Westberry for an 11-yard TD pass, while Elijah Kirgis had a pick-6 and Bently Brause forced a fumble and recovered it. Steyer added a TD run and a two-point conversion pass to Lincoln Ekleberry. James Hacker had a fumble recovery and Wesberry capped the scoring with a 31-yard TD run. GOLF: Finishing in first place in the Wednesday morning Senior League at Clinton Heights was the team of Dave Combs, Jim Hoffbauer, Andy Bess and Dave Seislove at 5 under. In second at 4 under was Mike Hampp, Tom Puffenberger, Tim Mannas and Tom Hoyda and two teams tied for third at 3 under, which were Brad Hess, Scott Anderson, Jim Carter and Tom Toepper and Gary Hohman, Charlie Reinbolt, Scott Swartz and Jim Ruess. Prizes went to Carter (closest to pin in two No. 7), Hoyda (closest in one No. 8) and Ruess (long putt No. 9). HOLE-IN-ONE: Mike Imber recorded his first career ace in 66 years of golfing as he holed out on the 155-yard No. 15 at Loudon Meadows Tuesday. He used a 6 iron. Witnesses were his wife Nancy, JD Persohn and Ava Sarka. JV TENNIS: Columbian's Tara Duffy and Miriah Distel, Coryanna Martin and Melinna Holman, Mackenzie Bracey and McKenzie James and Alivia Kirby and Kansas Fox all won matches against Upper Sandusky. BOYS SOCCER: Columbian handled Clyde 5-1 Wednesday. Bayne Joseph and Conner Reese each with two goals and Braden Distel with one. GIRLS SOCCER: Columbian edged Clyde 1-0 as Mia Zeis netted the lone goal of the game. Morgan Roach had the assist and Aubrie Hoffman made 23 saves in goal.
