Calvert nets $5K in national contest

TIFFIN — Calvert Catholic Schools received a $5,000 check Wednesday from T-Mobile's Friday Night Lights competition during the school's annual pep rally, where students, staff and community members gathered to celebrate. Earlier this year, Calvert High School was chosen as one of 450 schools nationwide to participate in the competition's "5K Fridays." Each week for nine weeks, 50 schools are awarded $5,000. Coach Mike Lento thanked the community for its support, saying the win belongs to them. "Continue to push our social media, make sure you use the correct hashtags, we're not done yet," Lento said. The competition continues, and Calvert still has the chance to win a $25,000 grant or $1 million cash prize toward a stadium. "Right now, we don't have our own designated home field. Our guys deserve to be able to head out of the locker room and take care of business," Lento said at the pep rally. The contest offers a variety of prizes to reward rural school districts that consistently share engaging content on their official social media accounts.
