FFA alumni to host Car, Truck and Tractor Show

NEW RIEGEL — A newly formed group of FFA supporters is bringing the communities of Hopewell-Loudon and New Riegel together for its first-ever Car, Truck and Tractor Show this fall. The event is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20 at New Riegel Community Park. Registration for entries will open at 10:30 a.m. the day of the event. Adam Horner, an alumni member helping organize the event, said the show is meant to do more than showcase vehicles. "We thought this would be a great way to bring the school communities of Hopewell-Loudon and New Riegel together, bring the FFA chapters together, and start building relationships while supporting our kids," Horner said. Organizers say they expect a mix of classic and modern vehicles, with cars already registered ranging from Ford Model Ts to Mustangs, as well as several tractors. Horner said the event is meant to be inclusive and community-focused. "We really just want anyone who enjoys their car, truck or tractor to come out, share it with the community and help us raise funds for a great cause," he said. All proceeds will support FFA members at both schools, helping offset costs for Career Development Events, Leadership Development Events and educational trips. These activities range from hands-on competitions, such as power diagnostics and soil testing, to public speaking and job interview events. Funds will also help cover expenses for trips like the National FFA Convention. The event is being led by committee chair Lindsay Lucius, who is coordinating efforts with other alumni members. "We've had a lot of people step up to support us, and that's what makes events like this possible," Horner said. Village officials helped to secure the park for the event, and several businesses have signed on as sponsors with additional sponsorships still being accepted.
