A vote for Tiffin Schools I was born and raised outside of Pittsburgh. I came to Tiffin following college. The decision to make Tiffin my permanent home was based in no small measure on the quality of the school system that would one day educate my children. Following graduation from law school, I took a job out of state. My wife Dawn and our infant son, Daniel, made the trek south with the intention of building a life, home and careers. I went to work in a local law firm and Dawn, a Tiffin native, taught school. The area we lived and worked in was beautiful. The people were friendly and welcoming. Life was good. However, it didn't take long for both of us to realize that the school system that we thought our young son would attend was not where we wanted him to be. We returned to Tiffin and rejoined family, friends, and a school system that we were confident would provide our child with a great education. We were not disappointed. Our son, and later his sister, Maya, graduated from Tiffin City Schools and went on to obtain advanced degrees and successful careers. TCS was their launchpad, and we are forever grateful for the first-rate education they received. The quality of a TCS education is one of the major features making Tiffin a great place to live, work and raise a family. Great school districts are not created and maintained by accident. The cost of educating young people, like the cost of almost everything, has increased significantly over the years. TCS is facing a deficit, and we, the parents and grandparents of the young people it educates, are being asked to chip in. TCS hit some difficult times in the recent past. There were moments of frustration and even embarrassment. New leadership has guided the district well. TCS has recovered and excelled in its mission. No matter how you feel about the past, we must concentrate on the future of our children, ensuring that they reap the benefits that a great school system has to offer them. There can be no question that a great community must have a great system of educating its young people. Great education systems need funds to operate and stay great. I am proud to support Tiffin City Schools, and ask, on behalf of our young children, that you consider supporting TCS by voting in favor of the upcoming levy. Dean Henry Tiffin
