Traffic stop leads to drug bust in Fostoria

FOSTORIA — A Fostoria man is being held in the Seneca County Jail following what began as a regular traffic stop, according to members of Fostoria Police Department. At approximately 5:20 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5, Ramiro Silva, 23, was pulled over in the 200 block of E. Crocker St. It was later determined that Silva was driving under several different suspensions, which prompted officers to tow his vehicle. Chief of Police Gabriel Wedge shared that while preparing to tow the vehicle, two officers conducted an inventory search, during which they found a bag containing approximately $6,000 in cash and a baggy containing 26 pills, suspected to be fentanyl. According to officers, another bag found in the vehicle contained a large amount of suspected cocaine, weighing over half a kilogram. Silva was arrested for Failure to Disclose Personal Information, issued citations for Driving Under a 12-Point Suspension, and Driving Under an OVI Suspension. Additional charges for the suspected cocaine and fentanyl pills are pending the results of further official chemical testing. "Our patrol officers right now are doing a great job with drug interdiction in the city — this is just one more great example of the work they are doing," said Wedge.
