Meeting Notices The Tiffin Area League of Women Voters will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Weds., Sept 17 in the Frost-Kalnow room, located at the Tiffin-Seneca Public Library, 77 Jefferson St., Tiffin. The meeting will feature a presentation on the TCS Levy on the November General Election Ballot with Committee Chairman Jimmy Flint and TCS Superintendent Jerry Nadeau. New Riegel Board of Education New Riegel Local Schools Board of Education met for a regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 10, to discuss staffing, finances, and student activities for the upcoming school year. Elementary Principal Jamie Barrows and School Counselor Stephanie Depinet presented details about placing a facility dog in the school, potentially ready for the 2026-2027 school year. Treasurer Brad Radison reported the district received its second-half real estate tax settlement of $606,029 and the first of two semi-annual fiscal year casino tax payments totaling $12,310. The board approved several Treasurer-related items, including the August 2025 Treasurer's report, a $12,309.62 transfer from the General Fund to the Permanent Improvement Fund, reduced student fees for 2025-26, and a contract with EPC/MEC for USDA-donated foods for 2026-27. Superintendent David Rombach shared several maintenance updates and reviewed the 2024-25 school year, along with goals for 2025-26. Other approvals included resident mentors and student cleaners, a Jacket Company advisor, a volunteer cross country coach, an overnight music trip to Nashville in March 2026, and on-call bus compensation. The board also approved a variety of student fundraisers, including athletic discount cards, senior class candle sales and trips, Fun Run events, apparel and yearbook sales, and more. Tiffin-Seneca Heritage Festival Announces Grand Marshals The 2025 Tiffin-Seneca Heritage Festival Parade will honor Ron & Melissa Kramer, Jim & Brenda Stultz, and Gary & Jan Dundore as Grand Marshals. The parade is set for 10 a.m. Saturday, September 20, along S. Washington Street in downtown Tiffin. The three couples have volunteered for the festival for more than 20 years, helping guide its planning and operations. "Without their leadership, oversight, hard work, and passion, the festival would not be what it is today," organizers said. The Heritage Festival, celebrating its 45th year September 19-21, will also feature a Living History Village, live entertainment at the East Green, a car show, craft and food vendors, and more. Fostoria boy hurt in crash A 13-year-old boy was taken to ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital with "minor injuries" Wednesday after a collision between the electric scooter he was riding and a motor vehicle at the intersection of Elm and North Union streets, the Fostoria Police Division reported. Fostoria Police Chief Gabe Wedge said the incident is under investigation.
