Dragons push No. 1 Ferris State in 41-34 loss

BIG RAPIDS, MI – It ended as a loss, but Tiffin University showed what kind of team it has this season in a hard-fought 41-34 loss at No. 1 Ferris State Saturday night.TU (1-1) led 7-0 after Alex Johnson found Joey Truesdale for a 2-yard TD pass in the opening quarter, but then the Bulldogs got to work scoring 28 straight points. Down 28-7, Johnson then hit Emari White with a 29-yard TD pass, but Ferris State (2-0) responded as Wyatt Bower ran in a 75-yard touchdown run before the half.But TU outscored the Bulldogs 20-6 in the second half. Ronald Blackman ran in an 8-yard TD, Malik Baker ran in a 77-yard blocked field goal for a score and Jaedyn McKinstry caught a 65-yard TD pass from Johnson with 1:46 left in the contest. But it was too late.Ferris State outrushed the Dragons 273-65.Johnson was 24 of 37 passing for 340 yards as McKinstry hauled in three catches for 85 yards, Blackman had 18 carries for 60 yards and added five grabs for 80 more yards for TU. ONU runs over 'Berg in Bendo BowlADA – Ohio Northern controlled the line of scrimmage Saturday in the Bendo Bowl as it outrushed Heidelberg 275-55 in a 33-13 Ohio Athletic Conference victory.ONU (1-1, 1-0) led 19-0 late in the first half before HU (1-1, 0-1) got on the board as Ty Poorman found Aiden Bradshaw for a 10-yard TD. However, ONU scored consecutive touchdowns to begin the second half as 'Berg trailed 33-7 in the fourth. Poorman hit Bradshaw again for a score (28 yards) in the fourth to cap the scoring.Poorman went 19 of 39 passing for 222 yards as Bradshaw caught four passes for 66 yards, Micah Willink added two grabs for 61 yards and Drew Miller was the leading rusher with 11 attempts for just 30 yards.Louie Blasiole torched the Student Princes with 25 carries for 144 yards and three scores for the Polar Bears.
