Law enforcement hosts Coffee with a Cop

TIFFIN — Several Seneca County Law Enforcement members, including Sheriff Fred Stevens, Sgt. Andrew Shellhouse of the State Highway Patrol, and Tiffin police Lt. Jake DeMonte collaborated to host a Coffee with a Cop event at Rural King of Tiffin on Monday. The event, according to Stevens, provided a relaxed setting for residents to talk directly with law enforcement, share concerns and ask questions over coffee and snacks. It also served to highlight the importance of community engagement and the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to build trust and strengthen relationships in Seneca County. Community members were able to voice their concerns about various issues they feel they have identified, such as excessive speeding and neighborhood upkeep. One visitor shared a personal scam experience, hoping law enforcement could prevent similar incidents. Stevens noted there was potential for tracking the scammer through local police channels. Tiffin police Chief David Pauly shared he feels that this is one of those simple but meaningful opportunities to connect with neighbors beyond the badge. "It's not just about law enforcement talking — it's about listening. When people take the time to share their concerns, their ideas, or even just a cup of coffee with us, it builds the kind of trust that keeps our community strong. We're fortunate to live in a place like Seneca County where those conversations are welcomed," said Pauly.
