Old Fort man killed Monday

TIFFIN — One person died and three others were injured after a two-vehicle accident Monday morning in Pleasant Township. According to a press release from the Norwalk Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Mikayla D. Steyer, 18, of Old Fort, was traveling south on Township Road 73 at approximately 7:15 a.m. when her vehicle, a 2002 Ford Ranger, went off the left side of the road. Steyer then re-entered the roadway and struck a northbound 2006 Ford Escort head-on. The driver of the Escort, Jeromy T. Danielski, 37, also of Old Fort, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Two minor children, who were passengers in the Escort, sustained serious injuries and were transported by Life Flight to St. Vincent's Medical Center in Toledo. Steyer sustained minor injuries and was transported by EMS to Fremont ProMedica Hospital. OSP was assisted at the scene by the Seneca County Sheriff's Office, Seneca County EMS, Seneca County Coroner's Office, Old Fort Volunteer Fire Department, ProMedica Life Flight and Rush Towing. The crash remains under investigation.
