H-L earns runner-up trophy at sectional

FOSTORIA — Two Hopewell-Loudon players finished in the top 10 and another ended in the top 15 Tuesday to help the Chieftains claim runner-up honors at the Division II sectional at Fostoria Country Club.The top three teams and top three players not on those team qualified for Monday's district tournament at Sycamore Springs.Van Buren edged H-L 368-370 for the sectional championship, with Old Fort taking third and the final district berth with a 383.Calvert ended seventh (415), Carey came in ninth (461) and New Riegel wound up 13th (544).Aubrey Cline fired an 88 for the runner-up Chieftains, capturing fifth overall to lead all area players.Megan Boes finished tied for sixth with an 89, Mallory Rowe tied for 13th with a 92, and Brooke Clouse and Mylie Alt both carded a 101 to tie for 21st.Old Fort also had a pair of top-10 players.Claire Hunker tied for sixth with an 89, and Sarah Combs tied for ninth with a 90.Kristin Combs added a 94 for the Stockaders and Karalina Rojas shot a 110. Isabella Reyna (111) also played for Old Fort.Grace Wood's 92 led Calvert.
