Holman falls in playoff bid for state

OREGON — Delta's Lane Lopez upended Upper Sandusky's Toby Holman in a playoff for a state berth at Tuesday's Division II district tournament at Maumee Bay State Park.The top two teams and top two players not on those teams qualified for next week's state tournament.Swanton's Dylan Smigelski fired a 77 for medalist honors and the first individual state berth.Lopez and Holman ended regulation knotted at 79, with Lopez eventually advancing.Ottawa Hills powered past Liberty-Benton 321-332 for the district team crown. Bellevue finished fifth (343).Bellevue's Samuel Cooper missed out on the playoff by a stroke, shooting an 80 to end tied for sixth in the individual standings.Blake Sutherland backed him with an 84 for the Redmen, Jackson Decker carded an 85 and Caden Lindsey tallied a 97.
