Could another coaster land at Cedar Point?

SANDUSKY — Cedar Point has yet to announce what, if anything, will be new for the 2026 season, which, in years past, was always done in August when season passes went on sale. Last year, the park did not announce anything in August, holding off to announce Siren's Curse until September. So the question is this: What do the cards hold for the park's future? What guests need to realize is that, up until this point, we should all feel extremely fortunate to get back-to-back-to-back coasters starting with Wild Mouse in 2023, Top Thrill 2 in 2024/2025 and Siren's Curse in 2025. Three years in a row for a new coaster is unprecedented. So to expect something major for 2026 might be a pipe dream. However, this week, Six Flags sent out a survey to select season passholders requesting feedback on new potential options for the park. In the survey, they are looking at the option of three new coasters as follows: • A suspended thrill glider: "This suspended motorbike coaster lets riders straddle their bikes in a ... forward-leaning position as they soar through twists, turns and daring drops." • A multi-launch family coaster: "This exciting new family launch coaster, custom-designed to deliver thrills everyone can enjoy together." • A family-friendly coaster: "A magical new experience for young adventurers with its story-driven family-friendly attraction." In addition, the park is looking for feedback on a new stunt show spectacular and a nighttime spectacular: • The stunt show would feature acrobatics, choreography, dynamic sets and engaging storytelling. • The nighttime show would offer high-energy performances and music acts with pyrotechnics. Six Flags typically plans things out five to seven years in advance, so the likelihood of any of these happening anytime soon is likely a little premature. A previous survey sent out in May 2024 had options for a tilt coaster and potential new replacements for the Snake River Falls area. While there was much more involved with how we obtained Siren's Curse so quickly after it failed to be installed at Six Flags Mexico, it can reasonably be assumed that the survey results were unrelated due to the timing. The suspended thrill coaster is certainly exciting, as it looks like sister park Six Flags Magic Mountain is/was to get one in 2026. But outside of an announcement in January, we're not seeing any update on what looks like a new concept coaster. Of course, the other two family coaster options have been popping up recently around other sister parks. More to do at night? Cedar Point is also in desperate need to offer something at night to keep guests in the park. Disney and Universal parks are masters of keeping guests entertained and spending money up until late. At Cedar Point, this has been a major void for years outside of a couple of key days, like around the Fourth of July. The Boardwalk Nights event definitely helped with a masterful production of entertainment that kept guests clamoring for more. This year the park also offered late-night comedy shows that were a terrific option for something different each night. It is only a matter of time till we hear about the next new addition to the park, so stay tuned for future updates.
