Margaretta churns past Raiders for share of SBC River

CASTALIA — Lakota couldn't get going in a 38-7 loss to Margaretta, which clinched no worse than a share of the Sandusky Bay Conference River Division title Friday night.The Raiders (4-5, 1-5 SBC) were held to no first downs and 7 total yards in the first half.Margaretta had plenty of offense.Jake Bouy threw touchdown passes of 42 yards to Kale Bailey and 8 yards to Mason Reinboldt in the first quarter for a 14-0 lead.The Polar Bears made it 31-0 by halftime on TD runs of 15 yards by Carter Luzader and 13 yards by Judah Keller and Bouy's 21-yard field goal.Keller added a 41-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter.The game was played under a running clock in the entire second half. Lakota's A.J. Gosche broke loose for a late 50-yard touchdown to get the Raiders on the board.Nick Elchert completed 6 of 11 passes for 68 yards and an interception.Margaretta, which outgained Lakota 418-139, played in front of a packed house at the Duck Pond."It was incredible," Keller said. "The Margaretta faithful shows up all the time, even when we were 4-6 last year they came out. I'm so thankful for our crowd."The Bears, ranked No. 4 in the state in Division VI this week, improved to 8-1 overall and 6-0 in the River Division. Redmen tighten up Bay Division racePORT CLINTON — Bellevue scored late in the first quarter and early in the fourth, and clamped down on Port Clinton all game Friday to claim a 12-3 win.The victory tightened up the Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division race, with Bellevue (6-3) moving to 2-1 in conference play while the Redskins (5-4) slipped to 2-2.The Redmen snapped a scoreless tie with 35.8 seconds left in the opening period when Caden Cramer reeled in a 64-yard scoring strike from Ike Brown. Bellevue point-after attempt, but led 6-0.Port Clinton cut the deficit to 6-3 on Adam Fitt's 32-yard field goal in the second period.Bellevue gained some breathing room on Brown's 8-yard keeper early in the fourth, then kept the Redskins at bay from there. Eagles roar back to drop RamsUPPER SANDUSKY — When Kobe Beidelschies booted an extra-point at the 7:38 mark of the first quarter, it gave Upper Sandusky a 7-6 lead.It was pretty much all Colonel Crawford from there for the rest of the half.Brayden Holt threw a pair of first-quarter TD passes, Roen Thew had long scoring runs in the first and second quarters and Parker Weithman added two second-quarter touchdowns as the Eagles powered past Upper Sandusky 46-24 in Northern 10 Athletic Conference play.It was a close game for the first half of the first quarter.Connor McMichael's 30-yard sprint put Colonel Crawford up 6-0 just 54 seconds into the game, but the Rams countered with Keegan Dunn's 7-yard TD toss to Josh Heilman at the 7:38 mark. Beidelschies' ensuing PAT gave Upper Sandusky its only lead.It lasted less than three minutes.Holt sandwiched TD throws of 15 yards to John Degray and 75 yards to McMichael around Thew's 42-yard scoring sprint to help the Eagles grab a 25-7 lead by the end of the period.Weithman hauled in a 37-yard scoring pass from Payton Baker just eight seconds into the second quarter, Thew added a 33-yard TD gallop and Weithman added a 76-yard punt return for a score just before the half.Beidelschies did hit a 37-yard field goal for the Rams between the final two Colonel Crawford scores, but the Eagles still went into the break up 46-10.It stayed that way until more than halfway through the fourth quarter, when the Rams got TD runs of 2 yards from Ethan Lewis and 7 yards from Kaden Vogel. Tigers jump all over BucyrusATTICA — Nicholas Parks threw four touchdown passes and Jackson Gayheart ran for two scores and caught a TD pass as Seneca East thumped Northern 10 Athletic Conference foe Bucyrus 62-14.Parks had TD tosses of 22 yards to Gunner Polachek in the first quarter, 39 yards to Gayheart and 38 yards to Jaron Depinet in the second and 54 yards to Branson Finnell in the third for the Tigers (6-3, 4-2 N10).Gayheart added scoring runs of 4 yards in the first quarter and 25 in the second.Bentley Gayheart scored on a 3-yard plunge in the first quarter and a 5-yard pass from Branson Robinson in the fourth. Aiden Bame added a 30-yard pick-6 in the fourth quarter.The Redmen (1-8, 0-6) avoided the shutout on Isaac Makeever's 1-yard plunge in the third quarter and Wyatt Makeever's 2-yard run in the fourth.
