TC's Jenkins named POY in SBC Lake

Columbian, who is in a district final Wednesday in Willard, won its third straight SBC Lake title this season. A big reason why was senior hitter Kaela Jenkins. Jenkins – a Grand Canyon commit – was named Most Outstanding Performer in the SBC Lake when the All-SBC volleyball teams were released Tuesday.Joining Jenkins on the first team were junior teammate Avary Brown, Bellevue junior Finley LaPata and Clyde senior Lucy Glass.TC junior Lexi Beaston, Clyde senior Brooklyn Hemminger and Bellevue senior Kaitlyn Turinsky and junior Katherine Baptista were all second-team picks.Honorable mentions were Columbian senior Emma Daugherty, Bellevue freshman Calie Cramer and Clyde junior Kelsey Ray. 19 locals on All-SBC River teamsCalvert, who notched its ninth straight SBC River title this season, had nine All-SBC River selections, including four of them on the first team, when the teams were released Tuesday. Overall, 19 local players graced the list.Calvert seniors Emily Miller and Claire Schoenberger, along with juniors Bella Borgio and Bryn Dircksen were first-team selections, while Old Fort sophomore Marah Miller, Lakota junior Queen Beard and Hopewell-Loudon senior Madison Holcomb were also first-team picks.The second team consisted of New Riegel junior Ava Wensink, Old Fort junior Lucy King, sophomore Adelyn Dick and Calvert juniors Kate Coleman, Megan Rombach and Karris Marinis and sophomore Gracie Miller.The honorable mentions were Calvert sophomore Hope Waire H-L sophomore Savanna Cook, Lakota junior Sophia Bomer, New Riegel senior Addison Theis and Old Fort sophomore Carly Fortney.Fremont St. Joe senior Amaree Haralson was named the most outstanding performer. 11 locals on girls All-SBC soccer listNorwalk junior Claire Spettle was the player of the year in the SBC for girls soccer, but there were 11 locals on the teams as well when they were released Tuesday.On the first team were Bellevue freshman defender Angela Sanchez and Clyde sophomore attacker Mimi Greenslade.The second team consisted of Columbian seniors Aubrie Hoffman (goalie), Ella Conley (defender) and Mia Zeis (attacker), along with Bellevue freshman midfielder Lyla Young and senior attacker Reece Young and Clyde seniors Addison Townsley (defender) and Ingvild Krokann (midfielder).TC senior Morgan Roach (midfielder) and Bellevue senior attacker Jersey Mayes were both honorable mention. 3 Stockaders, 2 Tornadoes on boys All-SBC teamsEdison senior Alex Davidson was the player of the year in the SBC for boys soccer this season. As far as locally, Old Fort seniors Brayden Davis (defender) and Andrew Tackett (midfielder) were both listed as second-team selections when the list was released Tuesday. The honorable mentions were Columbian senior midfielder Conner Reese and junior goalie Corey Pool, along with Old Fort senior defender Aidan Chapman and Clyde junior attacker Aidan Greenslade.
