Stuff the Bus will assist those in need

FOSTORIA — Donations of food and hygiene items will be accepted Friday in an effort to "Stuff the Bus" and assist local residents in need.The event, which is being coordinated through First Call for Help Fostoria, is scheduled for 8 a.m., to 3 p.m., at the Fostoria Kroger store, 126 W. High St., with food items being collected for the city's Blessing Boxes and hygiene items being accepted for donation to Fostoria City Schools and the Fostoria Church of the Nazarene's Hope Community Center.Items will be loaded into a bus from North Central Area Transit before being taken to their destinations. Those wishing to volunteer should call Libra Tedrow at 419-435-2555.The goal for the food collection is to receive donations that would make for an actual meal, such as peanut butter, jelly and bread or boxed meal mixes.Food items being sought include dry milk power, macaroni and cheese, boxed cereal, pasta and sauces, canned vegetables and soups with tab tops, small can openers, small bottles of vegetable oil, tea bags and coffee, sugar, flour and canned meats.Hygiene items desired include bars of soap, deodorant, feminine products, travel- and large-sized body wash, conditioner and body lotion, shampoo and toilet paper.
