Towne and Country Players hosting Veterans Day weekend concert

BELLEVUE — The Towne and Country Players, Inc., a nonprofit charitable/educational organization, will open its 60th Diamond Anniversary Season on Veterans Day Weekend, at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9. "To All Those Who Came Before Us" will be presented by the Malone University Singers and Instrumentalists under the Baton of Dr. Amy Yekel. The Concert is celebrating the veterans, active military and first responders with a cornucopia of music, including patriotic plus seasonal Thanksgiving and Christmas music. The event is free to the above mentioned concert, but people must call 419-668-0637 to reserve their tickets. The show's location is in Sandusky County, where Towne and Country was founded in 1966, and is being hosted at First Church, 901 Northwest Street, Bellevue. The Towne and Country is a Norwalk-based volunteer organization with participants from Erie, Huron, Lorain, Ottawa, Sandusky and Seneca counties. "Since the beginning we have been filling a need versus creating one," said original member and president, Neil Miller. "Townsend-Margaretta Elementary School, Vickery, was where we started with the backing of the PTA to raise money for the school's music department. We have never taken a dime from the taxpayers as we have done our own fundraising and have succeeded for 60 years." "All alumni, volunteers and members will share the stage leading the audience in 'God Bless America!' during the prologue of the concert," vice president, Jim Cardman, of Norwalk, said. Tickets are $12 in advance or at the door with sponsorships starting at $35, which includes tickets and the sponsor's name listed in the programme. All seating is general with the doors opening at 2:30 p.m. with pre-concert music by keyboard artists, Dottie Pickering, of Bellevue, and Dennis Stoneham, of Norwalk.
