Videos share message of life

TIFFIN — New resources for the local pro-life movement will be shared at a free dinner and education program Thursday, Nov. 6, in Fostoria. Fostoria Bascom ProLife will welcome Foundation for Life of Northwest Ohio for the event, which will feature a newly developed video series created by Foundation for Life. "The video series delves into the complex and sensitive issues surrounding abortion," a press release states. "The series aims to inform viewers and encourage them to come to their own conclusions about the subject matter." Ed Sitter, executive director of Foundation for Life, said the video series, titled "Case for Life," was created after Issue 1 was passed in Ohio in 2023, enshrining abortion in Ohio's constitution. "We identified areas we were falling short," Sitter said. Essentially, he said, voters were considering abortion simply as an abstract issue, arguing "woman's body, woman's choice" without deeper consideration. Relying on an abstract view of abortion, Sitter said, shielded voters from being "confronted with the evil" that is abortion. The issue will remain stagnant "until culture is confronted with these things," Sitter said. Each video, or module, of the series explores different aspects of the life v. abortion debate, blending embryology, explanations of abortion procedures, imagery and testimonies to present "a relatively compact presentation that makes the case for life," he said. Sitter said the "window to the womb" in the series "is enough to change hearts and minds," and the message of "redemption, hope and love" for women who have chosen abortion gently displays the impact an abortion decision can have on all involved. According to fflnwo.org, "Case for Life" is one of "six brand-new impact initiatives in Northwest Ohio," which are "designed to build a culture of life in our community so that the dignity and value of every life is respected from conception to natural death." Sitter said, "God planted us here in Northwest Ohio," but he hopes the message of "Case for Life" and the truth it portrays will have a far-reaching impact. Sitter said he believes 35-45 guests currently are registered to attend the dinner and educational session Thursday, and that number is still growing. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. at St. Wendelin Parish Life Center, 323 N. Wood St. Laura Ritzler with ProLife said RSVPs are not absolutely necessary, but are appreciated for planning purposes.
