A letter is missing – can you guess which one it is?

Panic was setting in. Well, maybe not panic. But I was getting nervous. It was time to write my column but a letter was missing. An important one at that. I hit the button. Nothing. I hit it again. The letter was AWOL.How was I to write this column without that letter? The problem was not that there were no topics to opine about. It was about not having one specific letter available to share my thoughts. Have you ever been in a position like this? I haven't.My thoughts ran to key sports news from this past week. Writing about college football, pro football or even the high school playoffs was a possibility. I might mention that Seneca East, Hopewell-Loudon, Mohawk as well as Carey will begin the football postseason. I wish each of these area schools well in their tasks. It's win or go home now.As for college football, before the season began the Penn State – Ohio State match up was going to be big. Not so much now. Penn State lost three in a row, then their coach James Franklin was sent packing though I won't feel too sorry for him. Have you seen the money amount in the buy out clause?But the Buckeyes better beware. This may well be a trap game. The Nittany Lions have nothing to lose. Memo to OSU… get on top early. Giving Penn State a belief that they are capable of pulling the upset might be what causes just that.Writing about the Lions was a thought. They are having a nice season. The Bengals? Not so much. The Browns… oh just ick!Nascar is wrapping up their season. A champion will emerge in Phoenix. Will it be Hamlin, Briscoe, Larson or Byron? Who knows, but I will tune in tomorrow!Maybe recapping the Major League Baseball season? By the time this column hits the public we may already have a champion. The contributions of Ohtani, Guerrero, Freeman or Barger will be important. One can not overlook the efforts of Shane Bieber either. Or one Trey Yesavage. How can one go from Jupiter, FL. (A Ball) to Toronto in one season? Then to fame on the hill. Wow.Perhaps the biggest story of the past week was the gambling accusations against an NBA player as well as a coach. Chauncey Billups, the Trail Blazers coach was a host to poker games where everyone knew of illegal actions except the "fish" who lost millions.The FBI gave great amounts of information on the situation as if they were trying to convict him in the court of public opinion. That story was unwelcome, but seemingly there was no affect on any games. The player however, the Miami Heat's Terry Rozier, possibly took money from gamblers while giving them information that he might just suffer an injury, perhaps early in the game.The gamblers then might make money by betting on him to not get certain otherwise easy to attain numbers. This is more concerning as it likely might influence the outcome of a game.Well, I can't pen a column without a missing letter. Wait a minute. This column is now complete. Figure out the missing member of the alphabet yet? If not, let me tell you. But I can't. The letter is still missing. Perhaps I can give you a clue.My column was written without the letter ( ).
