Rombach named COY in D-VII, 3 Senecas earn All-Ohio

The 27-0 Calvert Senecas have been on a mission this year and are playing this week in a state semifinal Thursday. But before that, the All-Ohio volleyball teams were released Sunday. In Division VII, Lori Rombach was named the coach of the year, while Calvert junior outside hitter Bella Borgio and junior setter Bryn Dircksen were both named to the first team. Alongside those two Senecas on the first team, Mohawk senior middle hitter Biz Klopp received first-team honors.Old Fort sophomore outside hitter Marah Miller was a second-team selection, while Calvert senior outside hitter Emily Miller was a third-team pick.In Division VI, Buckeye Central senior setter Maren McDougal was a third-team selection, while Seneca East junior outside hitter Bryn Meyer was listed as honorable mention.In Division III, Columbian senior middle hitter Kaela Jenkins was a second-team selection. Mohawk's Klopp, Calvert's Borgio earn Co-POY in District 6It was another championship-filled season in volleyball in the A-T coverage area as Calvert, Mohawk, Buckeye Central, Columbian and Bellevue all won conference titles during the regular season, while Calvert has its eyes set on the top prize this week in Dayton. After the District 6 teams were released Sunday, a plethora of local names were listed. Starting in Division VII, Calvert's Lori Rombach was co-coach of the year with Monroeville's Kendra Snook, while Mohawk senior Biz Klopp and Calvert junior Bella Borgio were named co-players of the year in D-VII. Also on the first team were Calvert senior Emily Miller and junior Bryn Dircksen, Old Fort sophomore Marah Miller and Mohawk senior Emerson Gurney.The second team consisted of Calvert senior Claire Schoenberger and sophomore Gracie Miller, Mohawk junior Reese Hoover, Old Fort sophomore Adelyn Dick, Hopewell-Loudon senior Madison Holcomb and New Riegel junior Ava Wensink.Calvert juniors Karris Marinis, Megan Rombach and Kate Coleman, along with Mohawk junior Chloe Miller and Old Fort junior Lucy King were all third-team selections, while Mohawk freshman Mara Haynes, H-L sophomore Savanna Cook and junior Araceli Velasquez and New Riegel senior Addison Theis and junior Claire Schalk were all honorable mention.In D-VI, Buckeye Central senior Maren McDougal was named the player of the year, while Missy McDougal, Carey's Stacy Bell and Colonel Crawford's Jaime Valentine were all co-coaches of the year.Joining Maren on the first team were BC senior Adrienne Jury, Seneca East junior Bryn Meyer, Lakota junior Queen Beard and Carey juniors Rylie Stoops and Abbi Seager.The second team included Lakota junior Sophia Bomer, SE senior Lexi Snay, BC sophomore Megan Siefert and Carey senior Emily Brodman, while the third team consisted of BC freshman Mayzie Hanlon and Lakota senior Emma Jurovcik. Honorable mentions were Carey senior Sophia Klein and SE senior Paige Strawser.In D-IV, Bellevue's Liana Petitti was named the coach of the year, while junior Finley LaPata was the player of the year. Junior teammate Katherine Baptista and Clyde senior Lucy Glass and junior Kelsey Ray were also first-team picks. Clyde senior Brooklyn Hemminger and Bellevue senior Kaitlyn Turinsky and freshman Calie Cramer were all second team.With Divisions II and III combined, Lexington's Ava Brown was the player of the year, while Fremont Ross' Erin Dircksen was the coach of the year.Columbian senior Kaela Jenkins was a first-team pick, while juniors Avary Brown and Lexi Beaston were both second-team selections, seniors Emma Daugherty and Erica Raubenolt were both third-team picks and senior Josie Kancler was honorable mention.
