Villages, township elections see new winners

TIFFIN — Unofficial results from the Tuesday general election show winners of mostly uncontested races across Seneca County's villages and townships, with most incumbents and single candidates securing new terms. In Attica, Mayor Louis Sanders was reelected without opposition, with James Gray, Steven Tanner, Edwin Beamer and Kirk Stanfield filling four council seats. In Bettsville, William Klaiss Jr., Robert Toy Jr. and Charles Littlejohn were the only candidates listed for four open council positions, leaving one seat expected to be filled by appointment. Bloomville and Green Springs each reported write-in votes for open council seats, with names to be confirmed once results are certified. In New Riegel and Republic, only two candidates filed petitions for four available council seats within each village, also leaving seats to be filled by appointment or certified write-ins for both councils. Township ballots followed a similar pattern, with only two candidates running for two trustee openings, resulting in straightforward wins. Among the few contested races, Jim Distel and Bill McKinney led the field in Clinton Township, while Allen Brickner and Richard Findley topped a four-person race in Jackson Township. Elsewhere, incumbents and newcomers alike earned terms on boards in Adams, Loudon, Liberty, Pleasant, Scipio, Seneca, Thompson and Venice townships. Final tallies and certified write-in results are expected to be confirmed following the official canvass later this month.
