Fremont man pleads guilty to child sex crimes

FREMONT — A Fremont man pleaded guilty on Monday to two felony charges relating to his child sex crimes case. Randall E. Frederick, 62, 1000 block Birdseye Blvd., pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual battery, each a third-degree felony. Frederick pleaded guilty to the two charges in exchange for one additional count of sexual battery, also a third-degree felony, to be dismissed. A Sandusky County grand jury indicted Frederick on those three counts of sexual battery on April 4. According to his indictment, the crimes occurred between October 2019 and February 2021, when Frederick "engaged in sexual conduct" with a child he was entrusted to care for. Frederick is scheduled to be sentenced at 10 a.m. on Jan. 5. Background The investigation into Frederick first began on Nov. 11, 2023, after Fremont police were called to a local business due to a man allegedly making inappropriate comments to a female employee, according to a Fremont police report. The victim came forward in 2024 after the incident involving the female employee, and after police made contact with Frederick at his home and reportedly found sexually explicit messages. Frederick was indicted and arrested the following day by the Sandusky County Sheriff's Office, according to court records.
