Tiffin Crawl gifts Sisters in Shelter

TIFFIN — Sisters in Shelter was the 2025 recipient of funds raised by the Tiffin Crawl #31. According to a release, the event took place Saturday, June 28, raising $25,260. The Crawl, organized by Steve and Kathee Bruno, "is an annual grassroots fundraiser" dedicated to raising funds for organizations that support local children, the release states. Jennifer Kin, executive director of Sisters in Shelter, said being chosen to receive this year's earnings "is just humbling," and the money is being used to further SIS's efforts to provide education about sextortion and internet safety. Last week SIS hosted a sextortion training event in Sycamore, and Kin said the organization hopes to expand its reach into local middle and high schools, sharing that information with students. Kin, together with Steve and Kathee Bruno, who have organized the event since 1994, extended their thanks to those who contributed to this year's Crawl. Major gifts included: Tiffin Aerie No. 402 Eagles, $10,000; American Legion Post No. 169, $5,000; NWO Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, $200; C.A.R.S. Automotive Repair, $200; GW's Fine Food and Spirits, $250; three private individuals, $300 total; Wickert Brothers, $150; Chase Services, $150; The Clover Club, $150; Tiffin Elks Lodge No. 94, $139; Reclaim It 127, $100; Jeffrey Jewelry, $100; The Renaissance of Tiffin, Jolly's and The Deli/Cafe, $100; Duece Co. - Dr. Eric Griffin, $100; and Knights of Columbus No. 608, $50. Of the event total of $25,260, $16,989 came from direct monetary donations made by local organizations, businesses, and community members. An additional $8,271 was generated through merchandise sales, raffle proceeds, and day-of contributions, including the sale of 544 specially designed shirts and 35 embroidered caps, along with $1,925 raised through the event raffle. Thanks also was extended to Rush Graphix for their ongoing partnership in designing and printing shirts and donating embroidered caps, and to Reclaim It 127 — Inspired Resale for serving as a retail location for merchandise sales. Over the past 31 years, the Tiffin Crawl has donated $118,199 to children's programs across the community.
