70-year-old man murdered in Wyandot Co., sheriff says

WYANDOT COUNTY — Jason G. Mitten, of Nevada, Ohio, has been taken into custody and has been charged with murder following a dispute that ended with the death of Nevada resident Stephen G. Mitten, 70. According to a release about the incident from the Wyandot County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the 2800 block of Township Road 43 at 7:31 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, for a report of a disturbance at a residence. At 7:38 p.m., WCSO received a second 911 call from the residence regarding threats of violence made to a family member. When deputies arrived, Stephen Mitten was discovered to be deceased in the residence with apparent gunshot wounds, the release states. Jason Mitten was then taken into custody and charged with one count of murder. Assisting at the scene were the Wyandot County Major Crimes Unit, the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Wyandot County Coroner's Office and the Wyandot County Prosecutor's Office. The incident remains under investigation.
