5 new homes available in Fostoria

FOSTORIA — A pair of informational meetings about new, affordable home-ownership opportunities on Walnut Street in Fostoria are scheduled by the Seneca County Land Bank for 4:30-6 p.m., Jan. 21, and noon to 1:30 p.m., Jan. 24 in the Fruth Room of Kaubisch Memorial Public Library, 205 Perry St.New homes were constructed at 1310, 1314, 1318, 1322 and 1326 Walnut St., through the Welcome Home Ohio programs. The meetings are planned to assist those who want to learn whether the home-ownership program may be a good fit for them. During the meetings, those in attendance will learn about the Welcome Home Ohio program and qualification requirements; receive applications and guidance on how to apply; view interior and exterior photos of two of the homes, which are representative of all five of the available homes; receive one-on-one assistance with application questions and next steps.The land bank says in a news release that the available homes offer modern layouts, new appliances and the opportunity feor long-term, owner-occupied residency in Fostoria.Applicants must meet basic program requirements related to household income and the ability to obtain financing. The land bank notes, though, that the meetings are designed to walk potential residents through the process step-by-step and help determine eligibility.The land bank says attending a meeting does not commit anyone to applying but is strongly encouraged for those who want help in understanding their options."Home ownership can feel overwhelming, but this program is meant to make the process clear and supportive," said Sarah Stephens Krupp on behalf of the Fostoria Community Improvement Corporation and the Seneca County Land Bank. "If you're unsure whether you're qualified, the meetings are the best place to start.Applications for the Welcome Home Ohio program are being accepted.
