1-2 punch lifts Blue Devils

CAREY – Carey's Bella Phoenix and Bayah Harsanje combined to score 30 points for Carey in a 45-25 drubbing of Arcadia Saturday. Phoenix tallied 16 points and five rebounds, while Harsanje added 14 points and McKinnley Kessler finished with 10 points and four boards.The Blue Devils (14-3) outscored Arcadia (11-3) 29-15 in the first and fourth quarters, which was the difference. Liberty Voges led Arcadia with 10 points. Tornadoes get revengeThe last time Columbian and Perkins met on Dec. 6th, the Pirates won 47-39.However, the Tornadoes got revenge this time with a 47-22 SBC Lake win at home Saturday.TC (11-4, 3-3) set the tone early as Maddy Richie opened the game with two consecutive baskets. Perkins (4-10, 2-4) had seven turnovers in the first quarter, and the first two occurred within the first five minutes of the game. The Pirates got on the board with an Allie Brunner basket. After a Tornado timeout, Hannah Koelsch tied the game at 4-4, but Lexi Beaston canned a triple and a little over a minute later made a basket with 2:45 left. Koelsch ended the first quarter with a basket, and it was 9-6.The second half is where TC shined. The Tornadoes capitalized on the 17 turnovers committed in that half by Perkins, and held the Pirates to five total points in the half as well. TC went on a 7-0 run on back-to-back baskets from Mia Zeis and Madi Shriver drilling a triple. The Pirates called a timeout with 5:34 remaining, but the score ballooned to 38-22. Coming out of the time out, Richie scored a basket with an assist from Zeis. As Perkins was running the ball down the court, Shriver stole the ball and scored on a bucket. The only two points for the Pirates was from Myelle Matheny. The game ended with Genevieve Cleveland making her free throws, as well as Tyanna Zeigler.The leading scorers for TC were Beaston (11 rebounds) and Shriver with 10 points apiece. Zeis had nine points.TC forced 29 Pirates turnovers. Rombach-led Senecas boot H-LMegan Rombach registered a double-double Saturday to fuel Calvert's 43-28 Sandusky Bay Conference River Division win against Hopewell-Loudon.Rombach scored 10 points and pulled down 20 rebounds for the Senecas (7-3, 4-2 SBC). She also dished four assists.Teammate Mya Steyer led everyone with 12 points, Kayleigh Concepcion netted nine and Kate Coleman had eight.Karsyn Snyder keyed the Chieftains (4-10, 3-4) with nine points and 10 rebounds, and Lily Brickner tallied eight points and eight boards. Madison Holcomb backed them with seven points. Bellevue overcomes slow startHILAND – It certainly was Bellevue's toughest game yet this season, but the Lady Red overcame a 15-6 deficit to pull out a 46-39 win over Berlin Hiland at the Classic in the Country at Hiland High School Saturday.After a 15-6 first quarter for the Hawks (11-4), Bellevue countered with a 17-6 second, but the big quarter was in the fourth, outscoring Hiland 11-4 to close things out.Ellie Freitag led the way for the Lady Red (13-0) with 13 points, while Kaitlyn Turinsky added 12 points and 16 rebounds. Raiders rough up RoyalsKANSAS — Lakota dominated the first half and had four players score in double digits Saturday in a 70-53 win against Elmwood.The Raiders (7-5) vaulted out to a 20-4 lead in the opening period en route to a 40-15 halftime advantage.Nick Elchert led everyone with 22 points for Lakota, King Beard scored 17, Avery Shilling tossed in 13 and Ruger Kelbley tallied 10.Owen Traxler's 20 points paced the Royals (2-12). Kason Hammer added 12 points and Avery Plouck scored 11. Blue Devils flatten BucyrusCAREY — Carey stormed off in the second quarter to help turn a close game into a 69-27 Northern 10 Athletic Conference win against Bucyrus.The Blue Devils (4-6, 4-1 N10) ended the first quarter with a 19-16 lead before surging away 22-3 in the second period.Kyler Boes and Carter Bame each scored 12 points for Carey, Bekkem Sherman netted 11, Dalton Roberts added eight and Brayden Kitzler had seven.Chase Stone grabbed 13 rebounds, Evan Kinn chipped in five steals and four assists, Boes snared four steals and Roberts dished four assists.Charlie Randall keyed the Redmen (2-9, 1-6) with 11 points and five rebounds, and Carson Witten had eight points and five boards and three steals. Fliers steamroll RedmenCLYDE — JeCori Roberts led four Clyde players in double figures Saturday in a 100-49 romp past Fostoria.Robert scored a game-high 26 points for the Fliers (6-7), who scored at least 21 points in each quarter.Karcen Garner chipped in 19 points for Clyde, and Max Swander and Chase Castle each tallied 11. Michael Scruggs netted nine points and Oscar Webb scored eight.Jayceon Tucker topped the Redmen (1-10) with 19 points, Julius Smith scored 12 and Taevyn Talley ended with eight. Eagles pull away from StockadersFORT LORAMIE – Despite a monster double-double of 23 points and 12 rebounds from Henry Beisner Sunday at Fort Loramie's MLK Classic against Troy Christian, the Eagles outscored the Stockaders 20-11 in the fourth to walk away with a 57-52 victory.Isaac Gallagher chipped in 14 points for the Stockaders (7-4). Troy Christian forced 18 Old Fort turnovers.
