Click to introduce ICE Act

TIFFIN — State Rep. Gary Click, R-Vickery, spoke Wednesday evening at a gathering hosted by the Seneca County Republican Party. The event, which took place at Buffalo Wild Wings in Tiffin, featured Click as the guest speaker. Click reflected on notable legislative accomplishments from the 136th General Assembly and informed guests of current and pending bills of which he is a part. Click detailed the passing and implementation of Keith's Law, which created a database of special needs individuals for use by first responders and law enforcement, and noted his part in the restoration of funding for Community Based Correctional Facilities, which recently had been suspended. Legislative highlights detailed by Click also included House Bill 162, the My Child, My Chart bill, the Charlie Kirk American Heritage Act, which he said is through the House and now is in the Senate, and a bill introduced just last week that would create a bipartisan Ohio Data Center Study Commission. Click also revealed he is preparing to introduce an ICE Act bill, in response to the recent fatal shooting of Renee Good by an ICE agent and reports that a library in Wilmington, Ohio, hosted ICE Watch training. While the Constitution protects the right to protest, he said, protesters "have no right to obstruct justice." "Renee Good should be alive today," Click said. "She is dead not because of ICE, but because of ICE Watch training," which includes impediment of law enforcement. The ICE Act bill, he said, will establish boundaries for entities that receive public funding, stating that if an entity hosts a training that includes obstruction of justice, that entity will lose its funding. Provisions also will be included that an entity can be charged with aiding and abetting if training provided at a location can be linked to an incident that results in injury or an arrest, he said. Click stressed that protest training that does not impede law enforcement is not included in the act. Click also said he has submitted petitions for his 2026 reelection bid.
