Redmen fend off Fliers for Lake Division title

NORWALK — Bellevue gained three champions and placed in all 11 other weight classes Saturday to upend Clyde for the Lake Division title at the Sandusky Bay Conference Tournament.Each of the three divisions crowned its own team champion, but grapplers from all divisions competed against each other in individual bouts.Bellevue beat Clyde 208 1/2-195 for the Lake Division championship, followed by Perkins (175 1/2), Norwalk (92 1/2), Columbian (54 1/2) and Sandusky (46 1/2).Edison overpowered Port Clinton 174 1/2-126 1/2 for the top spot in the Bay Division. Vermilion took third with 65 1/2 points, followed by Margaretta (58 1/2), Huron (50) and Willard (43 1/2). No area teams competed in the Bay Division.Woodmore stormed off to the River Division title with 203 points. Warriors back atop N10 standingsATTICA — Carey snapped Mohawk's six-time consecutive title string last season, but the Warriors left little doubt this year.Four Warriors claimed crowns and six others took second Saturday to put Mohawk back on top at the Northern 10 Athletic Conference Tournament.Mohawk cruised past runner-up Seneca East 210 1/2-161 to claim its ninth crown in the 13-year history of the conference.Carey came in third with 146 points, followed by Bucyrus (116), New Riegel (57 1/2), Upper Sandusky (47 1/2) and Buckeye Central (20).Due to low numbers, 10 of the 14 weight categories were contested in round-robin style. Oak Harbor took third with 125 points, followed by Lake (104 1/2), Fostoria (101 1/2), Rossford (65 1/2), Otsego (62) and Maumee (50).Kleinmark's crown came at 150 pounds in a 15-7 major decision against Maumee's Charlie Skeels.Runner-up finishes for the Redmen came from 126-pounder Huelette North, 144-pounder Barrett Hernandez, 165-pounder Silas Raney and 215-pounder Cyrus Flores, all at the hands of Genoa grapplers.Scott Fuller pinned North (:41), Michael Soto pinned Hernandez (2:50), Luke Clement scored a 16-1 technical fall against Raney and Elijah Smith-Draper pinned Flores (1:41).Fostoria's Ezekiel Sensabaugh added a fourth at 157 pounds after suffering a 13-4 major decision loss to Oak Harbor's Eric Diaz.
