TCS interim superintendent Williamson to take permanent role

TIFFIN — The Tiffin City School Board announced that current interim leader Greg Williamson will become the district's permanent superintendent. The decision concludes a search conducted with the assistance of the North Central Ohio Educational Service Center (NCOESC). According to the board, the selection followed a comprehensive review of applicant submissions, formal interviews and reference checks. "Greg comes to Tiffin City Schools with vast experience as an educator, principal and superintendent," said Heidi Stephey, Tiffin City School Board president. During the meeting, Stephey elaborated on Williamson's qualifications, noting he brings "about 13 years as a superintendent with also obviously years as principal, assistant principal, educator." She added he was "definitely the standout candidate from all of the applications and interviews" the board conducted, making him an excellent fit for the district. Board member Dr. Meagan McBride emphasized how straightforward the final decision ultimately was for the committee. "It was clear the entire time," McBride said, describing Williamson as a "very singular person who stood out, who we knew was our next leader." McBride noted his leadership presence was immediately evident, stating, "You could feel it in the room. You could feel it when you walked in the building." She added it was "really powerful and exciting to have such a clear decision this time." The board had previously outlined an accelerated timeline for the search, with a stated goal to interview candidates and offer a contract by late February or early March. The appointment of Williamson perfectly aligns with that schedule. Addressing the board after his appointment was confirmed, Williamson expressed his enthusiasm for the permanent role. He explained the district's staff and students are what "reinvigorates me and it makes me excited about the future that Tiffin City Schools has." He also touched on his local roots, adding, "It's an honor for me to grow up nearby, being a Seneca County kid." District leadership history Williamson began his interim duties in Tiffin Feb. 2 after previously serving as superintendent for Leipsic Local Schools. He steps into a position that has seen many administrative changes over the past decade. The recent search was prompted by the December 2025 resignation of former Superintendent Jerry Nadeau. Nadeau cited family reasons for his departure after holding the position since 2024. Before his permanent appointment, Nadeau had also served as an interim superintendent for the district. Nadeau was the seventh person to lead the district since 2014. Prior to his tenure, the district's leadership history included: • Ben Richards (2022–2024)• Michael Zalar (2021–2022)• Van McWreath (Initially hired in 2021, but the district withdrew the offer following a domestic incident charge)• James Grubb (Served a one-year interim contract)• Gary Barber (2017–2020; resigned following OVI charges)• Vickie Wheatley (2014–2017; departed and later settled a lawsuit against the district in 2019) With the search now concluded, the board is looking forward to the stability and extensive educational background Williamson will bring to Tiffin City Schools.
