Fostoria council works toward hiring new finance director

FOSTORIA — Fostoria City Council on Tuesday night passed a resolution amending the job description and salary range for the position of finance director.The action came as city administrators prepare to replace current Finance Director Steve Dandurand, who has said he plans to step down when his contract expires in October. The salary range advertised for the position is between $75,000 and $110,000 per year, Mayor Don Mennel said. In related matters, council's finance committee plans to meet in executive session on March 9 and council has scheduled a special meeting, also to be held in executive session, for 5 p.m., March 18, in council chambers at the municipal building, 213 S. Main St.Council also approved an ordinance that distributes about $299,000 to four different city funds and a resolution allowing for a "then and now" certificate for about $4,533 for information technology consulting support through the Seneca County commissioners.A "then and now" certificate is required when a financial transaction takes place before a purchase order is issued or when an open purchase order has accidentally been closed prematurely.
